If you were wrestling with that, it did not show. It looked more like dancing with it. It was beautiful all the way to the end. And yes, I struggle with the longer backing tracks. I run out of ideas and tend to repeat a few phrases multiple times. I also have to noodle with it over and over and can rarely remember what I did the last time so it keeps changing. Then when I video it, I have to do multiple takes. It is a very labor intensive process for me so I don’t get many videos actually posted. I’m just not to the point I can play something and video it on the first take. Maybe someday or in another life. Thanks for posting this lovely improv.

Thanks @Dan D#! I always enjoy your improvs and this one is especially melodic. I am happy to see improv submissions increase because it seemed that after the website redesign people were not posing as many. Thanks for keeping them coming.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. That looked like a real fretting challenge but you nailed it.

@Marquita that is a beautiful song. I loved it immediately hearing the guitar but then the lyrics just brought me to tears. The music, the lyrics, your performance; I was really touched. Thank you for sharing.

I will leave it to the more experienced to comment on the pros and cons of alternate fingering approaches, but I think consistency is the key to establishing the muscle memory. For me I have to do these transitions many repetitions over a long time before it begins to transfer from brain to direct muscle memory without thinking. I guess I have slow learning muscles 🙂

It’s definitely a work in progress but I do see some progress. It took me over a year of practice to even make a barre chord sound like a musical chord.

Yes, I am beginning to understand that just because I can’t play something in the first 10 mins doesn’t mean that I won’t be able to get it with practice. Too often I have just dismissed a lesson as beyond me because I couldn’t immediately play it. I guess there is a reason it is called the daily “challenge”.

I wonder @Jumpin’ Jeff if some people’s journey has less uphill climbs. Journey never ends but I would be happy for a few less mountains to climb. 🙂
