Lovely improv Charlie_d! Beautiful tone and use of the chords to make a nice melody.

Thank you @Guerra6007 . In real world baseball, I was more of a bunter 😀

And you laid that one down skillfully – and beat out the throw! Coup Sûr!

I speak no French whatsoever (well, maybe Oui, Merci, Poutine and Coq à Vin), but I was in Expo Stadium for Montreal Expos v. Philadelphia Phillies the day that Pete Rose got his 4,000th Coup Sûr! The only French I understood that day was the vendor in the stands yelling, “Bière – Beer!”

Very cool, dr_dave. Amazingly enough, I was also at that game since it was a home opener in 1984. I was in high school back then, and the Expos first game of the season was one of the only days of the school year when I would “take a holiday” from class with a few friends ⚾

Small world, Charlie! My wife and I were skiing at Stowe that same morning, and the spring snow was thick. My flat feet were killing me, and we were not skiing all that well, as we didn’t have nearly the ski experience we now have. So I asked her, “What do you say we go see the Phillies this afternoon?” She asked, “How long will it take to get there?” (She had no idea they were playing in Montreal.). I said, “About 2 hr.” So we made the trip. I remember dinner in Montreal that night. it was the first time I ever had Lobster fra Diavolo. I also remember answering the border guard’s questions when we returned to the States that night. When he asked where we were, how long we were in the country and the purpose of our trip, I told him we just went to see Pete Rose get his 4000th Coup Sûr! It’s funny how vivid my memories are of that day that was over 37 years ago.

Awesome @dr_dave that you came to visit at that time. Stowe is a great area. My other biggest baseball memory was when I was a postdoc in St-Louis in 1998 and my parents were visiting. We were just outside of the stadium when Mark Mcgwire broke Roger Maris’ 61 home run in a season record…. the roar from even outside the stadium was unforgetable so was the anabolic steroid side of the story, but that’s what was happening at the time…

Washington U for post-doc? What’s your field – no, not left-center-right or infield v. outfield, since it sounds like you are a baseball nut! I’m curious about your field of study.

BTW, I remember listening on the radio when Maris hit #61, but I was still in single digits at the time.

I realize we’re getting far afield of your excellent Hacksaw Jim Duggan improv, which is the real important part of this post, but learning more about my TAC teammates has always been one of my favorite parts of the game. You are helping me break out of my slump!

Yes, @dr_dave , I was at Wash U. from 1998-2001. I am a Prof. and research microbiologist working mainly on bacterial infectious diseases…and , of course, I pinch hit as a guitar player from time to time 😉

Bunt? I think not @charlie_d – more like a line drive into the corner – allowing all men on base to score easily while you round 3rd base, eyeing home plate🤩 !!

A really clean and crisp improv – great melody – great sound!👏👏👏

If you are around your place around after 3 PM or so., I could come for a visit. 🎶😀
