Hey @MikeGaurnier just looked up the Beat Buddy. I just watched the demo and it looks amazing! I’m sure you are going to have a lot of fun with it. I am not anywhere near to that level. I’ll need something way more simple. I have a hard enough time following Tony sometimes. ha ha ha

You are an inspiration! It came out very well and just plain awesome. Gives me a push to try something unique myself. Good job.

I have never heard of the song before and had to google it. It’s beautiful and I also want to learn how to play this song now (with dry eyes if possible). You are just thinking too hard about playing. It takes a while to get your fingers conditioned and not hurt. It’s natural for the blisters and pain. If it was easy, everyone would be a guitar player. I think everyone gave good advice. Practice everyday to get those fingers conditioned. Good luck with your journey. I am sure I am speaking for everyone that we would love to hear you play this song. 🙂

I have a Martin d-28. I thought the same thing, with plenty of practice reaching the strings will be second nature to me. Ha! My fingers never grew longer to adjust to the guitar and it’s still a pain to use. Just keep in mind It’s a combination of things. The width of the neck is one and the shape of the neck is another (I’m sure there are more). I tried out a Resonator guitar, the nut width was a good size but the shape of the neck made it impossible for me to fret! I go to a guitar store that has a return policy of 45 days. In 45 days I should know if it’s a comfortable guitar to use. I have 5 guitars. My Taylor GS mini (3/4 size) and Cordoba 1/2 size are my absolute favorites and a fraction of the cost of my Martin.

Good luck David, I hope all goes well with your guitar journey. I started in Feb of 2021, and I was sold on the the connection of everyone. It changed a lot after the upgrade. I still look forward to the comments of people on the site but it has lost a lot of the spark.

I agree with you @Loraine. Those spaces between the frets get smaller as you go down the neck. You might think you are holding down a string and actually are on top of one of the metal frets instead.

I have to agree with everyone . It’s just a quick exercises. For a blues run or a tribute / tribulet (?). I found them beneficial when I start learning a new song, and it has something in it that I remember from a challenge. I would recommend saving the challenges to a folder on your computer and naming them something you can search for. Tony makes up a lot of names for his challenges that have nothing to do with what the challenge was, so they are hard to find. Todays challenge is ‘Triple Threat’. rename it to ‘Triple threat – blues shuffle’. Then you can do a search and pull up all those challenges that have a blues riff. Just a suggestion.

Hi @GuitarGeni , I finally found a Ovation 12 string in our local guitar store. It was a used one. Wow! heavy, that surprised me, but that wasn’t an issue. I thought the sound was really nice but the neck depth was too deep for me. I could hardly get my hand around it. I’m going to keep on looking, but, now I won’t rule out the Ovation just have to try them out as I see them. Thanks for all the information.

Thanks for the links @SoCal_Ian . I have read a lot of good things about titebond for guitar repairs. Glad I didn’t use the epoxy that my husband was trying to get me to use. I used the gorilla wood glue because it was already here. I am by nature, a lazy person and getting in the car to buy glue just wasn’t in the cards for me to do. I still haven’t put the strings on the guitar (i’ve been on vacation). I’ll do it today. 🙂

You are correct, I should have used a wood glue. I just read that ‘titebond, is a very good glue.

Ha ha ha…. We are on vacation and will be back home in a couple days. The glue will have dried by then. I’m hoping it works also. But, gluing and clamping was pretty easy so if it pulls up again. Soon, we’ll know soon.
