Thanks @Guitargeezer-Jack. I start every first session of the day with stretching, but this makes it easier to make sure you hit all the steps.

Real nice job there @Christopher_H. Not an easy tune to play, but you nailed it.

Nice job. I just could not get this to sound good at all. You on the other hand got it. Congrats

Congrats @
N-lightMike. Very well thought out summary. I always enjoy reading your insightful posts and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Sounds like you are right where Tony wants you to be.Enjoy the journey!

@ Kitman
Wow, that is really nice. You have the ‘feel’ in addition to the technical side. Great run.

@Lorraine, sorry to hear you are dealing with that. Might be worth asking your Doc if Physical Therapy (beyond just guitar) would help.

Did finger exercises, blues runs and other things that were beyond my reach along with attempting a few tunes. Didn’t worry about how it all sounded at all, was just happy to be out there getting at it. Had to give it up in the afternoon as the breeze disappeared, the heat picked up and the humidity just stayed bad😀

A friendly message from TAC SupportI have dealt with Victoria @VictoriaTACTeam for help in the past and in my opinion, she is a Rock Star in the customer support world. Extremely helpful. Just flat out excellent. Tony is very lucky to have her on staff in this type of position.
Now if they could only get the ability to type things in this forum without letters, words and posts disappearing fixed, that would be a big plus😄

@MiRu – Patience my friend. You can’t learn to play guitar overnight or in a year or multiple years. That is why so many start and then end up giving up. Nothing in life that is worthwhile is easy. Even if you look at the TAC membership and see who has logged on most recently (by state or however you want to sort it) you will quickly notice that only about 15% – 20% actually log in on a regular basis. Not a great statistic, but those 15 – 20 % who do show up on a regular basis will all tell you they are getting there slowly but surely. I suspect the other 80% are having a different experience.
After being on TAC for 2.3 years and also supplementing with other sites that bring different perspectives and/or teach songs, etc. I’ve come to the conclusion that it takes six things to be really successful at Guitar.
1 – Time – Finally have that now that I am semi retired
2 – Determination
3 – Knowledge and Skill – getting that from TAC
4 – Showing up Every Day – getting that from TAC
5 – Physical Tools (i.e. Nice set of long fingers)
6 – Talent
So, I basically throw away # 5 (I have short fingers) and 6 and instead focus on # 1 thru 4, concentrating on the things I do have at my disposal vice the things I don’t. Does it get frustrating sometimes? Yep. But, I am making progress? Yep. Has TAC helped Yep, big time.
Is TAC right for everyone? Nope, but it sure has helped me and no other site has the same approach as Tony, nor are there any other gurus out that that are as passionate and enthusiastic as Tony nor do any of the others have the same level of positive encouragement. His formula is a winner. I recognized this early on and as a result signed on as a Lifer😀
Will I ever be really good? I don’t know, but I am enjoying the journey and no matter what there will always be more to learn. Hang in there and keep at it. On the days when it just isn’t working, walk away and come back the next day. Just keep showing up. Enjoy.

@Marisa – Wow, sounds really good and you are out there in the public eye. You have way more guts than I ever will. Congrats!

Loraine Loraine – I really like practicing and playing on the front porch out in the open – sure beats the confines on the windowless basement. Last year when I had the guitar on the front porch, I would stop playing and lay low if someone walked by (we live on a fairly busy street), with folk walking or biking by on a regular basis. This year, my confidence is at the point where I just keep on playing when someone walks by = Small Win 😀The only problem has been the weather – It has been quite humid and hot, except for last week which had several great outdoor playing days.

@MrFreddy, I found myself doing the same thing, sort of defaulting to the fleshy part because of short fingers. So, I have started slowing down on the finger exercises to focus more on making the tips hit, especially on the pinky.

MemberAugust 30, 2022 at 6:52 am in reply to: Saturday, August 27 – Play Music on the Porch Day@Lorraine -Central Jersey shore area, so when a NE breeze appears, (assuming you are not in the middle of an east coast Nor’Easter), that is the time to get out on the porch. As the humidity is currently sitting at 99% this morning with a 74 degree dew point, there will not be any porch playing today😄
