    Nice gift.

Last week my deceased old roommate’s wife gave me his 6 string guitar banjo. I really appreciated it. Does that banjo count as a guitar? I think so. (I didn’t know National Guitar Day was a thing, but I believe it.)

A triad is simply 3 notes. (The major triad is the first, third and fifth notes of the scale). The three notes can be inverted like 3-5-1 or 5-3-1 or 3-1-5 or 5-1-3 (called first or second inversions depending on which note is the lowest) and get a different sound but they are still a triad. A triad can be played in more than one place on the neck. The minor triad has a flatted 3rd note. The Am triad would be A-C-E since the C# is flatted. I hope some of this helps.

Way to go. Making lemonade out of lemons in the form of enjoying music while recovering. Keep at it and you’ll have no regrets.

And posture really helps when you play for very long. I keep regressing and my body reminds me that I have.

So @the-old-coach you are always welcomed back. One nice thing about free will is all choices aren’t irreversible. When I was 18, I said I’d never own a minivan but with 3 kids at 40, I concluded I wasn’t going to let an 18 year old (even if it was me), tell me what to do. The concept works still even in retirement.

“Stuff that Works” is a Guy Clark favorite song of mine. I am more regular (must be the Raisin Bran), but where we sync up is how truly useful Tony’s approach is to consistently enjoy the process of learning and playing. So keep on working it even if it isn’t orthodox.

You should have put on a black outfit! Then we would have thought you were on tour!

I used to clearly prefer finger picking but I’ve deliberately attacked the flatpicking each time presented so now I’m feeling fairly comfortable with either. Good win. Stick with it!

My middle son, a big Seinfeld fan, said he would like this song sung at his funeral. Hopefully I’ll never experience but thanks for sharing.

And the hits just keep on coming! I noted a little procussion starting to creep in.

Is the banjo for decoration or can you plunk on it too?
