Congratulations. That is a great accomplishment. Not just having a Taciversary, but over 1000 playing sessions. I trust your guitar journey has brought you joy in a busy life and a respite from the cares of “the daily overhead of living.” What can you play/do now you couldn’t 3 years ago?

One of these days I want to add that to the repertoire. Your progress is well documented and you seem to be enjoying the piece. And that guitar is a beauty. Nice grain and sound. Thanks for sharing and going through the red light anxiety. I get it too.

That’s a great idea.

That is great. I am headed this week to the Fretboard Summit in Chicago and hope to have an equally good experience. I’m glad you got to experience a Guitar Geek Holiday.

A wins a win, especially if you play inside down. Check out how Elizabeth Cotten played on Wikipedia.

@seedaveleegmail-com I agree with @TMutter that one needs to be introspective and reduce your goals to writing. Unspecified goals are just dreams. I note on your profile that you joined in July with 3 playing sessions but you have delineated no goals. So to get some traction, I’d suggest some salty written down goals on that ice. I too have dabbled for decades but since I have joined TAC and trust the process I’ve found a lot of fun. Part of that process is understanding yourself and what you want and putting in the 10 minutes almost daily. Yes it’s only 10 minutes but it is regularly. Give it those 30 days (close to in a row) and you’ll be able to better evaluate if you are heading in the direction you want. And having fun.

The key for this week would be D. I don’t recall if he mentioned it but perhaps he did on Monday? That bass open note on the open D string is my clue. Also the scale work on Wednesday is a D major and minor scale.

Inch by inch, row by row, gonna make this garden grow.
Very enthusiastic performance. And embellished with that key change. Thanks for sharing.

@reachcast you pose a great question. And @ChuckS I love you phone playlist suggestion. (Also if you could post your spreadsheet to me that would be a wonderful resource. I’ve thought of doing so too but am too lazy.) in my WOGI each quarter I consider what songs can I actually play. I have little 5 song playlists (almost a medley) with a theme (like train songs or rain songs or love songs) that are in a similar key. I have no longer than 5 songs and sometimes only 3 because no one but me wants to hear that many songs. Since they are in the same key or I play them that way with a capo, they take some of the stage fright away. And since Fretboard Wizard (which I wholeheartedly endorse) the changing key thing has become much less a problem since I think more now with the Nashville number system. Anyway that is one approach.
And to wax on… I see TAC as practice. 10 minutes or they’re about and move on. I see learning songs as another world. If TAC teaches a song (which addition I am loving) I practice the song in the playlist world. I’ve added Brown Eyed Girl, and Hotel California and Landslide to that recently. As such that reduces any frustration with TAC retention since I partition them off. Every performer I know wishes they could recall all the songs they “know”. So this is a great thread. Thanks.

I think they are a gimmick. Tony’s exercises on the other hand are useful and like you, I use them routinely. If it is a real problem perhaps a smaller guitar might be in order. I see the kids on YouTube with little hands just burn a fretboard up on parlor guitars?

You did well on the basics and speed will fall into place as you feel the piece and the muscle memory takes over. I’m impressed.

Saddle up for some culture shock, pard! You’ll want that Guitar to Gently Weep for you. Best of transition for you.
