Thanks. I love the folk songs from the American expansion. We used to sing them in music class but my grandchildren no longer learn them in school. Failure to pass the history is a long term curriculum mistake I think.

I have no great insights since repetition to build that muscle memory is how it happens, but it will happen. I have one exercise “Mississippi Timing” that Tony does about once a year that I keep coming back to that I have yet to get imprinted on my fingers, but it does come along a little easier each time I visit it. Your chord transition works well for me with Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond so you might try it with that and sing along for some fun to add to the practice.

I had not noticed, but went back and looked at those two pieces and yes, the “stick” is a quarter note. I think it looks odd because it is percussive with a seizes of x’es on the staff. I also think it is odd because it has the x’es sharped depending on the key. You make an interesting observation. You have a sharper eye than I.

Congratulations
. One week into a fantastic journey. I posted session 1400 this week and can truthfully say it has been fun all the way for me. Saddle up for a 30 day ride.

We’ll see. That’s how it works. Nice it’s bitty teeny weeny small win.

I like the mixing and experimenting. The result is a fun piece. Thanks for sharing and especially taking the time to record and post. And I know it is satisfying even to have a vocabulary to describe what you are doing.

Happy TACaversary… and many more!

Well with all these comments in this thread, no one has said, “DON’T GO!”.
So I’ll say it. “DON’T GO”. Stay and play.

You guessed it. More TV. I still watch too much. It’s the glowing stone that enraptures all the sailors who gaze upon it to the point they forget to sail the ship until it runs aground.

That is so great a win. For years I had the memory to play songs because they were memorized. Now with the theoretical understanding they make sense. The veil is lifted and the key is easy to transpose and you can hear the chord change coming. Welcome to the joy of theory. Congratulations.
