Smart goal and rewarding follow through. I have a friend that routinely plays at a memory care unit @Dirk_R and he relates interesting tales of joy concerning those who don’t know who or where they are but sing along enthusiastically when they hear something familiar.

Only love will break you minor scaled heart. Good improv.

Nice follow through on your 90 days. And I bet you had fun once you got over your zoom fright.

@campfire good question. I used a Martin Backpacker when I traveled to Phoenix last year. It has a soft case but I carried it onto an airplane like a purse. I have a trip to France and Spain coming up in May and I am questioning how I will manage that and whether I should take the backpacker with me or just follow along with the lessons and keep my streak going. I’ll need an international plan to have an internet connection. One can do a little theory as suggested or also work on lyrics. Lyrics always require a little time too.

“Bad girl, bad girl. What you gonna do when they come for you?”
Hope your feelings aren’t too hurt. I always appreciate your positive input.

That is a good win. The good thing about the Gm barre is that it is movable.

My experience is different. I use the tabs daily and (in the rare instance that they differ from what Tony plays) it only excites me that my Fretboard Wizard acquired knowledge, let’s me understand why it is still “okay”. I often vary from the tab in my last few minutes of “the 10 minutes” and keep it fun by exploring what else musically and theoretically works. It is absolutely vital to me to have fun even in the face of the Rule of the Tab. Hum… I muse. Philosophically, are there no bad tabs, just unforeseen dissonance?

You’re routine is way heavier than mine and it can’t help but move forward if you can keep the fun in it. One thing I picked up from a forum thread is the idea of reducing your playlist to paper (or virtual tablet), then noting the last time you played through it to keep the repertoire current. “Lyrics” memory is a harder piece of the task and all performers struggle with it if you ask them. So if you want to just pick up a guitar and play more than an instrumental, a playlist helps. I also am trying to develop themed playlists like: Traveling songs, Love Songs, Drinking songs, Grandkid songs, Train songs, etc. Each playlist may have only a few tunes, but in a “hand me the guitar”setting it helps one remember something to play. Heartfelt and nice arpeggios with a few bass runs. Good work.

“Picking” up the habit, I see. Good job.

I have several tuners but I almost always use an app on my phone or iPad as I always have it with me. Also a metronome if I want it. Cheap and convenient so I’m with you Cadgirl.

Hedge fund manager, I get it. It sleeted and iced here today so I’ll be doing some hedge fund management when it warms up.
