I’m going to keep it real. I’ve been on TAC since March 2023. Last fall Tony’s stopped doing the quarterly review celebrations online and then shortly thereafter stopped doing his weekly Acoustic Tuesday show on YouTube. There’s been little in the way of anything new over the course of this past year and it’s certainly not the community it first seemed to be when I first started. I don’t plan to renew my annual subscription when it comes up in March. Tony seems to just be milking it for what it is and not putting the effort in to this platform that he previously did. ☹

Really good job. Loved your percussive strum accents too.

That’s a song I hadn’t heard in ages. Nice job on your performance of it.

Nice job @BethL! I have some pedals for reverb, echo, gain, chorus, tremolo, and phaser. I haven’t tried out a looper yet.

@Loraine, I watched this video as well as 2 other ones you did (Sounds of Silence and Mama’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys). I think you did the best with this one. Good efforts. I think working on actual songs is one of the best ways to help improve guitar playing.

When I learn a song and have it committed to memory, I try to go back and play it every couple of weeks to keep it fresh in my mind. I also save the chord charts for songs that I’ve downloaded from Ultimate-Guitar.com so I can easily go back and refresh my memory if I find the song isn’t as fresh in my memory as it once was. Those are always handy to pull out too at functions if needed.

Yes, I understand the family issue; however, failing to invest time in to the TAC platform isn’t going to increase and retain members. I have to imagine this is his primary income source so not something to ignore. As to videos, I check his YouTube channel. Since Acoustic Tuesday ended, there have been 5 video additions. One 8 months ago, and 4 within the past month. Better, but not a lot for nearly a year. Part of what made the platform special in addition to content was his engagement with the membership. That part has definitely been greatly diminished.

@Loraine, a lot of truth in what you said. I started playing when I was about 8 or 9 as we had a really good music teacher who offered guitar classes when I was in elementary school. After I got to middle school, I kind of dropped the guitar. I feel like we’re so fortunate now. With the internet there are so many good and affordable resources to use to learn guitar.

@Bill_Brown, I think the thing that keeps me most motivated is that I’ve gained some pretty solid skills on Guitareo, here on TAC, and through some private lessons I’ve been doing with Nate Savage online. I think we’re fortunate as there are so many great resources to learn from online and most don’t cost an extraordinary amount of money to do so they’ve very accessible.
I’m now able to take the skills I’ve developed in the past year and apply them to songs I love. I always liked the music of Elvis Presley especially and now I’m capable of playing a number of those songs as well as many others.
Am I the guitarist I want to be? No, not yet. But I’ve come so much further in one year than I ever accomplished in years of playing as a kid. Thanks for asking Bill. 🙂
