  • I love the original version of Sound of Silence by S&G. Love watching live versions of Paul playing his guitar to it. But there is something to the “Disturbed” version that I cant stop listening too.

I enjoyed watching his shows. After his last series ended, he indicated there would be another season. I guess we will wait and see. I have a Guitarsonal Shirt, but have not taken a picture yet.

Can’t agree more. Find a song you like and start playing it!! Do the challenges, but add a song to play!

Good Morning TAC Family, and thanks for checking up on me. So 3 years ago I slipped on the ice and completely torn my right rotator cuff. I was still working. I had only been at the job for less than a year so I had no sick time and was not eligible for FMLA time. But my employer held my job for 6 months until I could return. That was a hard recovery and many ups and downs and painful times. And even though I went back at 6 months, I definitely was not 100%.

This time, it was a partial tear that has been giving me constant pain since November. so it was time to get it fixed. I am happy to report that I am very pleased with my progress one week in. Started PT yesterday. Pain is down, gaining movement. Still hard to sleep on my back with a sling.

I have put away my Martin (for now) and pulled out my Taylor Urban Ash. Nice Guitar and very light. A started just with some strumming and picking practice. On Monday, I could only reach around the 9th fret. But on Tuesday, I could make it all the way to the 1st fret. So I am back playing (a little). It is good exercise and therapy!

Didn’t expect it this early, but I believe my recovery is ahead of schedule.

Thanks for all your thoughts. Steve

Thanks for taking the time to post. Spring is coming really slow this year in Northern Michigan, so no hurry for spring projects. My guitar journey will continue.

Thanks. Never thought about Drop D. I will try it.

  • I do not listen to Heavy metal. I first heard this version on a season finale of a show I watched a few years ago, when one of the main charters was getting killed off. The Blacklist.

Another one from the early 60’s that was one of my favorites was “Last Kiss” by J. Frank Wilson. It was Covered by Pearl Jam. I have added that one to my list of songs I am learning. Simple Chords and strum pattern and repeatable. G-EM-C-D one measure each and repeat. DDUUDU. Classic!

35 Years ago, I bought my first Guitar, a Sigma. (Knockoff Martin). I think my Guitar Journey has been successful this time because of many factors. The Martin is one because of the investment. But also Timing was a factor and finding the right program to follow for me, TAC.

I am a little bit of a Guitar Junky. I am always search the local market for my “next one”. On my One Year Anniversary of TAC, I went out and bought two Guitars. A Taylor Urban Ash GT, and a Carbon Fiber Enya. Both different and unique in there own way.

Because of my recent shoulder surgery, I have been playing the Taylor, because it is very light.

Whatever it takes for me to continue my Journey!
