Taking the ukulele with you seems to be a sensible solution. Maybe instead of renting a guitar use the money to start saving up for your very own guitar?
It’s great you are so into TAC you will continue it as you travel. Have a wonderful trip!

@Marcia I absolutely concur with all the above accolades! It was in the late 1960s when I had the great fortune to attend a small gathering concert featuring Janis Joplin (and Big Brother & Holding Company). Better yet I stood right in front of her at the stage. She was the most powerful raw emotion vocalist I ever witnessed.
You captured that emotion.

That’s the Five Day Guitar Routine Challenge
-
Tony recommends doing the Five Day Challenge found under the Skill section. Congratulations for finishing the 30 days course. Sounds as if you are doing the most important thing – having fun!
-
@dennisbrowne after that I suggest The Next Six Chords course found on the second skill section page. Don’t try to go for perfection when you do the Daily Challenges, or you will become discouraged. Work on them enough to get the concept then move on. Have YOUR best guitar life!

It’s been a year since I played guitar with sand under foot. This time enjoying a stay at Holden Beach, NC.
Believe it is a good time to reflect on my guitar journey. I am playing with more confidence, especially when doing so with my son-in-law.
This year I have my Taylor 414 ce-R with me. It plays well against my son-in-law’s Martin. We’ve enjoyed swapping off guitars during our evenings in the ocean breeze.
Been keeping up with the TAC daily challenges – very appropriate theme this week of barbecuing – which has been part of our daily routine. Although this evening we will be having “Frogmore” (no frogs but plenty of boiled fresh shrimp!
Enjoying my family and the beach lifestyle as I wear my “Be nice and play guitar” shirt.

I’ve found this forum discussion very helpful as I continue my quest for “the guitar of my dreams”. I have found the anticipation of any new purchase as rewarding as the actual acquisition. I continue my search by saving up cash a little at a time to buy “the one” when I find that Martin or Gibson or ???? that meets or exceeds expectations. My son-in-law (formerly a professional guitarist) has many choice guitars and has pointed me to guitars he thinks worth considering (I found having him play before I buy a guitar invaluable in obtaining my past couple Taylor’s). He told me not to get hung up on brands or models but to play as many as I can yet buy a quality instrument for both enjoyment now and as investment into the future too.
I am wanting a high end one to enjoy in the present and, one day, pass on to the youngest generation in my family as “grandpa’s guitar”.
I do appreciate all the good advice from those who contributed their “dream” experiences to this forum post.

Your progress has been remarkable @Moonhare. I do enjoy listening to your playing very much. Nice picking and percussion with this one.
You are clearly devoted to your canine family member. Wishing a speedy recovery ❤️🩹

@KayMesser – consider the Taylor GS Mini – smaller but works well for beginners. Fairly easy to travel with but an excellent starter guitar. I have one as well as a Journey travel guitar. I prefer the GS Mini. Much better. Worth the money. Try one at a guitar store but look for deals on Reverb.com
Happy travels for you!

You go girl! 🌟

Sounds good Mike. LKN is more pleasant in September-November as it much less busy.

Have guitar, will travel. Always good to hear from you Mike!

Appreciate your nice response @Kitman – limited distractions here allow for more quality guitar time! 😁
