The world needs your songs. Love every song you’ve written, and I wish you well on the next leg of your journey..

Thanks @Mrfredsporty ! I think the key is having a vision of where you want to be with guitar, and to set short term goals and, even if they are baby steps, keep moving forward on your vision quest (aka guitar journey). Stay positive. Even if you don’t think you’re improving, you are. You muscle memory is always working. Most importantly, never let anyone steal your dreams from you and never ever give up.
Personally, I’ve been singing all my life, so over the last couple of years I learned guitar by learning songs. Now I’m starting to write songs, and I’m just now learning scales, and the notes on the fretboard, and all that “fun” stuff.

I was a self-taught player when I was a teen. Was given a guitar and bought a chord book – I think it was pop folk songs of the early 70’s. I remember playing Carol King songs. I told my parents I wanted lessons and was sent to the local music store where some ancient guy (to my 17 year-old eyes) proceeded to try to teach me to read music and play nursery rhyme songs. Ugh – I was outta there! I quit after a month and didn’t pick up the guitar again until June of 2020, at the age of 62, when I was working from home during the first pandemic outbreak. I found TAC a month later.
