I think I mentioned that I did not have much exposure to Country music in my life, but TAC has been great insight into what is best about Country music. I truly liked this song, @KevinZ , and I thank you for sharing it. Lovely performance!

P.S. I took almost 90 Days to complete the 30-Day Challenge, and I had already gone through a beginner program elsewhere. I’m thankful to @michaelk73 for encouraging me to start from the beginning

Hi Claudia and welcome back to TAC! Congrats on giving it another shot!

Now, this is just me, but I need to be making music to stay connected to guitar. There are MANY easy 2-chord and 3-chord songs you can learn to play. So I say go on youtube and find some beginner song tutorials (or private message me).

Once I played my first song, the rest was history. I was “making music” and I wanted more. That was my incentive, my driving force. Do this in addition to your continued TAC lessons, because they are truly helpful. Start practice with the TAC lessons and end with the song lessons.

I wouldn’t worry about “getting” it yet, especially if you’re really new to guitar. Just do the TAC lessons and have fun learning to play simple songs.

Do not get discouraged. Remember your reasons for wanting to learn how to play the guitar, and keep that top of mind.

Another tip would be to watch Tony’s goal setting sessions. They are really helpful. You set your goals, and it helps you to focus your practice a little better.

Hey, I’ve heard you play, Nolan, and there is definitely hope for you! No doubt about it! So glad you’re having success with redoing those licks. I haven’t been through a year yet, but looking forward to doing them again.

Hi @Gord001 . First, never call yourself dumb. You are not. If you’re playing a guitar, then you ARE a guitar player. And you are in good company with many people who have struggled to learn the guitar. I’m sure I will continue to struggle for years.

I recited the “cheat” for the string notes for a looooooong time before I started to remember them. You will begin to remember them after you begin to relate them to something more than just 6 steel strings on the guitar. Once the note values start to make sense to you (actually to your ear), you will begin to “know” them.

Other TACers gave you really good advice. Be patient. I know it’s hard. Patience is one of my life’s challenges. But patience is truly a necessary element to learning guitar. Continue your consistent practice. One day things will just fall into place.
