Awesome goal @Cadgirl, and you CAN do it! I work full time and I practice/play a minimum of an hour on weekdays and two on the weekend. Like @SoCal_Ian says it is a long time, So I break it up into 20-30 minute slots. It’s now about 6:30 am and I’m going to jump in the shower and get ready for work. But I’ve already put in 30+ minutes. I wake up around 5:10 make coffee, have breakfast and get to it.
Have fun, and remember to STRETCH before and after.

Another great cover, David! 👏🏼Been a while since I’ve heard that song. Love the use of the harmonizer. 👍🏼Perfect for this song. One day I’ll get into pedals.

A very interesting question, Guy, and many responses here, so you’ve created food for thought and great discussion. My answer is no, not at all, in fact, just the opposite.
Personally, I learned guitar to be able to play and sing songs. I never saw myself as a solo artist doing riffs and improvs. So for me playing songs has moved my progress along. I’ve learned to change chords smoothly (well, sort of) and strum and sing along. I’m now learning fingerstyle patterns, again, changing chords and singing. I’m also stepping up my game and playing songs with barre chords, and doing my best to incorporate fretting hand techniques and melody notes. So I have used songs to push my progress forward. If you want to use songs to create progress, you certainly can, but it’s up to you. 🙂🎵

This was a great discussion to start @MTJack ! Now I have a few more weapons in my arsenal thanks to @Marty69 and @jumpinjeff . Australian Dream and slow stretching. Cool! I’m in PT for my carpel tunnel and just learned about diclofenac gel. I’ve just started using it – will see how it goes…

MemberNovember 8, 2021 at 4:12 am in reply to: Does YouTube think I sound like Jimmy Page?To be honest @moonhare , youtube didn’t have to go far because you listed the song title and artist in your title. When I did that 100-day challenge I stopped mentioning or including the name of what I was playing because I was constantly being dinged for copyright infringement. I guess if they “catch” you too many times, they can revoke your privileges on the site. Big Brother is watching!😉
By the way, LOVED your cover!👍😎

Sorry to hear about your hand pain @MTJack . I am an older player with arthritis and the beginning of carpel tunnel, so I understand. Did you take the TAC hand stretching course (in Skills Courses)? https://tonypolecastro.com/courses/guitar-players-daily-stretch-guide/
You should stretch before and after playing. There are also many great videos on youtube. Also be conscious of how you’re playing. Are you gripping harder than you should?

No kidding about BIG win, Mark! Very, very cool! And hurray to your neighbor for bamboozling you into playing. He is awesome too. 🙂
Congrats and keep on jamming.🎵
By the way, I have seen longer posts, so you haven’t broken any record.
