Posted by David on November 7, 2021 at 8:07 pmNot a really complicated song to play but a beautiful Prine song for sure.

This was beautifully performed David. I really wish you would join us at the VOM’s. You would no doubt love them. Keep up the great playing and vocals!

Thanks Lorraine. I have been meaning to rejoin VOM but something always seems to occupy my weekends. Hopefully my schedule will settle down and I will be able to jump back in.

Well done. I had never heard that song until this weekend and you did it wonderfully.

That was a magnificent rendition @deagle 👏👏👏 great performance and arrangement – loved the strategic use of the harmonizer 👍👍 You are ready for Prine Time (lol)😱 I really enjoyed listening David, thanks for posting🤩

Very ice. Nice guitar playing and you have a good voice. I will need to look up more of John Prine’s songs.

A truly lovely cover @David . You did John Prine proud! I don’t know very many of his songs, like some of his other fans, but this is probably my fav. Really enjoyed your pedal effects.
-
Thanks Michelle. I really became a Prine fan actually after he passed because I started to really listen to his anthology of music.

David,
I am a big JP fan. In my opinion his songs have a an illusion of being simple but in their lack of complex chords comes space and phrasing. In order for them to be performed well you must fill that space with honesty, clarity and soul.
You did all of that – well done!
What tool do you use for your harmony ? Is that a TC Helicon ? Sounds really good in this application.
-
I totally agree about the beauty in his simplicity. Thank you for your kind words.

Kudos David, sounds good, nice setup you have and an excellent rendition of JP.

Uncomplicated but beautiful – that’s the magic of John Prine. Really enjoyed this David. Very well done indeed. Did you pre record backing vocals or how did you accomplish that?
-
Thanks! I’m using a telecon harmonizer. It works with your voice and guitar for harmonies.

I found a good version of this song on Ultimate Guitar. It has tabs for both notes and chords along with the verse. Also has two good backing tracks that I was able to record to my DAW. Step 1, done!
