Beautiful technique there. You really have got it going on with your clarity of tone and choice of phrasing. I suck at this so it’s great seeing someone really taking the bull by the horns.

  • Wow! That is sounding great. You can hear that your technique is shining through and the odd slight slip is irrelevant. Keep it up.

I wish I could have got along but the US timing didn’t work on the Thursday for the UK and I was working on the Tuesday. Will definitely try to get to one though. Well done to everyone who took part.

Stunning cover of a true classic. You really have live performance nailed. You have inspired me to put my money where my mouth is. I am definitely going to get a live open mic slot this summer and see how I get on. It is long overdue.

I missed this picture first time round so well done! It has been a pleasure sharing your journey since I joined in 2021. Keep on strumming!

I’ll be honest, after 3 years I still don’t know the notes on the fretboard (and I’m a piano player who knows all 88 on that instrument) and although I have been thinking about it recently it hasn’t bothered me or impacted on my enjoyment of playing and writing (see my latest post in Play For Us). But if you want to go for it then try this vid out. I may join you!

  • Great advice. I don’t suffer but this would be hugely helpful for those that do so thanks for posting.

Hi there – some artists are more letigious than others (I’ve heard about the Eagles before) but I’ve posted plenty of covers and all that happens is they get copyright tagged and any monetisation would then go to the artists who own the copyright. I cannot see any reason why that is a problem to an artist. I suspect that this is a bot searching YouTube and flagging eveything that comes up whether it is commercial, or in this case an innocent guitar player just posting to friends. So ridiculous but YouTube has never knowingly been transparent and fair. People get strikes against their accounts for the most ridiculous things.

Thanks a lot. I was pushing it to play this piece at the time but nice to know I find it quite easy now!

I had completely forgotten about this piece so I’ve relearned it for a future open mic. What I like though is that I can now hear how out of time it is as I try to get the fingering right. I can now play it with ease whereas at the time I was pushing right to the edge of my abilities.

Yes, will be there when the timings work. BTW you got an amazing outpouring of love and support on your Jeff Buckley post on JMG just in case you haven’t checked it out. You might wanna grab a box of tissues and settle in for the evening!

Hey thanks for that! Love writing little pieces incorporating techniques I need to practice as it locks them in a bit easier for me.

Thanks for those thoughtful comments. Very easy for us all to fall into the trap of thinking everything we post must be perfect and that places needless pressure on people who may not feel confident about showing their work to everyone. So I would encourage everyone to have a go. TAC members are not judgemental if you fluff a few chords on your journey to getting a song learnt.
