  • Celtic knotwork (not work?)

I have always believed in posting things to TAC that you can’t quite play yet as a record of where you are and this is a case in hand.

I wrote this little instrumental for two reasons.

    1. As a way to practice some of the techniques Tony teaches us.

    2. To give my little (pinkie) finger a work out as that is the one that I need to strengthen!

So this is an excercise in hammer ons, pulloffs, string bends and some rhythm. I tied my fingers in knots a few times (hence the title) but as a practice piece I think it went pretty well. Hopefully by this time next year I can play this in my sleep.

@Moonhare – got that pinkie working well. Showing us a lot of technical guitar skills! Always enjoy hearing our TAC mate from across the pond.

Very nice. I can definitely feel a song there.

I vote Work rather than Not Work. That droning and moving feel along with the percussion is starting to remind me of Tommy Emmanuel (high compliment).

Very cool! Appreciate the honesty and vulnerability. It is a good reminder to everyone including myself. That this process of “music” does not improve if we stay comfortable. We must constantly push our limitations. Even if, we may sound clunky here and there.

Excited to hear it once you get it down pat. I bet it will be quite ROCKING!

Thanks for those thoughtful comments. Very easy for us all to fall into the trap of thinking everything we post must be perfect and that places needless pressure on people who may not feel confident about showing their work to everyone. So I would encourage everyone to have a go. TAC members are not judgemental if you fluff a few chords on your journey to getting a song learnt.

Hey thanks for that! Love writing little pieces incorporating techniques I need to practice as it locks them in a bit easier for me.

Loved it!!!! @Moonhare , that was a great piece of music you put together – don’t leave it sit too long. I think it has great potential (as does all of your original work) and deserves some more attention – can’t wait to see the finished product.

Your right hand technique with finger picking and rhythm was excellent. What a great sound you created!
