Hi @Dirk_R I, too, have shoulder problems. Instead of surgeries, I opted for physical therapy. It helps. Not only rotator cuff issues for me, but also a ruptured biceps tendon on my fretting arm (surgery no longer an option for me). I struggle at times with my Taylor dreadnought, because of it’s size and weight, but I still manage to play. I recently bought a Martin D-Jr, primarily as a travel guitar. It’s lighter, comfortable, and fun to play. It’s 4/5 the size of a full size dreadnought, so it’s a little bit bigger than the Taylor GS mini. I like that! Additionally, it has a 1 3/4” nut, which is the same as my Taylor dreadnought. The GS mini has a smaller nut. I prefer a wider neck. You may need to shop around, spend some time visiting different music stores, play a few different models, and figure out what’s the best fit for you. I hope you’ll share your choice of instrument. Best wishes to you, and good luck. 🙂

@Loraine @Bill_Brown I have to say, interestingly, the “vice grip” works very well on the first and third frets. The “thumb press” is what I need on the eighth fret. Go figure!

@Loraine There are three photos attached. I can make the F chord, starting at the first fret, and it rings true. Sounds good when I play it! I can either squeeze the neck with my palm (I call this my vice grip) or press against the back of the neck with my thumb (I call this the thumb press). Which is correct form?

@Clyde78 I’m not always able to watch on Tuesday, either… for one reason or another. You can always watch Acoustic Tuesday at your leisure. All the shows are archived. I’m not much for Instagram. I can’t offer any other suggestions. 😊

@MikeGaurnier Hey, thanks for your reply! I appreciate your feedback. Interesting approach you’ve had. 🙂

I’m a new member of TAC. I am also doing the 30 Days course. Some of the videos are two parts, “Learn” and “Play.” After you watch the “Learn” portion, are you moving over to the “Play” part? That’s where you can play along and adjust the speed.

Congratulations Felicia S 👍

Thanks for your support @Guitargeezer-Jack 🙂

“Fretboard Wizard” was offered to me during my initial introduction to TAC. I signed up for it at the same time. I haven’t taken the course get, but I do see it listed on my homepage. For me, the link is directly below “30 Days to Play.”

Hi @Dirk_R I just recently bought a Martin D Jr-10E sapele. I like it a lot! I bought it primarily as a travel guitar. I thought about the spruce model, but opted for this instead. I like the look of the sapele. And, I like that it is all solid wood. It has a nice sound, too, balanced in my opinion. My full-size guitar is a Taylor DN3, all solid wood with a spruce top. I thought about getting a Taylor GS Mini as my “traveler” , but instead I went with the Martin DJr because it has a 1 3/4” nut, same size as my Taylor.
