“daily” not “delay.” Posting new message because trying to a edit a post and save it causes it to disappear.

Hey Mark, you have started another great discussion! Can’t really add to the excellent comments other than my own experience.

I am working on Forked Deer from memory. I can hum it in my head just fine but I still hit a few wrong notes. At least I can tell when it’s the wrong note! I use the tab at the beginning, but think it’s best to memorize the tune as quickly as possible. It makes your ears work to distinguish what the next note should be.

This helps also if you transpose a song. For example I discovered completely by accident that I could play Forked Deer at the first fret instead of the third (i.e. no capo) using the exact same pattern of notes. So now the original tab is useless and you are forced to depend on your ears and fingers alone.

As for not looking at the fretboard… Oh man. I’m pointless. I should probably start working on that, along with playing standing up, which is also very hard for me.

Also I am playing the delay lessons very slow, far slower than the slowest speed in the video. Figure I’ll be closer the next time they cycle around.

Hi, how do I see this 90-day party thing, and is there guidance or advice somewhere on setting up a 90-day routine?

Thanks for the help, and for your patience!

    Hey Mark,

“Patrick U” here. Nice to talk with you again! Great post, I completely agree with your concern and the way you express it.

Everybody knows (or should, anyway) how difficult a big software project is, and that they NEVER work as intended or expected right away. So we can afford to chill a bit while these folks work through the issues. The last thing I want to do is pile on while the team is busting their, you know.

BUT (sorry, team, you knew it was coming!) I am a little worried that they’ve decided to commit too firmly to a “design concept.” Which is a different problem than just getting things working.

The aim seems to be: streamline, consolidate, pare away everything that doesn’t fit neatly in the “concept.” Which, in practice, has resulted in overly narrow constraints on member interaction, and much anxiety in the community.

So yeah, I was worried that I was posting in the wrong place; worried that my posts would be deleted; and worried that no one would see my posts in any case. Those worries appear to have been unfounded. But I am also worried that these restrictions and limitations will be permanently enshrined in the name of “concept.”

Maybe worth saying also that criticism does not equal rejection. This process should include feedback from the paying customers, as a matter of course. Nothing wrong with that, unless someone decides that “concept” triumphs over user experience.

I don’t think that’s going to happen. We just need a little patience.

(Having a lot of trouble getting this to take, so my apologies if multiple posts.)

    Wow. The SOUL comes through.

Going to start watching every day, because this is a lesson in humility, confidence, struggle, and overcoming. Super impressed.

    Wow!

Michelle can you explain the origin and purpose of the 100 day project? I didn’t find out before the site changeover.

Thanks Michael. It also set off a thought, and discussion, about using barre fingerings in open position. So another small win.
