For reasons I don’t understand, my attempts to reply to @Guy_H always direct instead to @jumpinjeff . Sorry about that.
I am so glad to have met you (actually that part applies to both of you, Guy & jj), and I’m really honored to have been credited in Guy’s original post as having helped on his journey. That feeling is certainly mutual.
Now here’s the funny part. As luck would have it, the individuals you specifically mentioned (except for jj, who was likely there in spirit) were together in the same listening room on the very same day you posted this thread. I was with Sharon Tiano & @Dom_T , @DMart , Robert Carhart, Jr., Carol M, Eryn M, Doc How (all of whom met through TAC) and my wife, Rose, to see Under the Oak at City Winery in Philadelphia. I’m sure jumpin’ jeff wishes he had been there too, since he’s another longtime friend of Maggie Pope, a member of UTO who happened to be a TAC staffer in a community relations role back when I joined in 2017. Another coincidence is that I just tried to telephone jumpin jeff last night for the first time in many months. So imagine my surprise when I read your post this morning, I credit you, Guy, for creating this wonderful disturbance in the force that ties into what Douglas Adams called the “FIAT,” i.e. the fundamental interconnectedness of all things.
I expect our paths will continue to cross via virtual open mics, and I hope some day we meet somewhere for an in-person, face-to-face jam. It’s such a wonderful journey along the guitar path where everyone wants to help each other. We’re blessed to have struck gold!

Solid performance, Guy. Glad I clicked on this thread.

Loved the rhythmic variation (syncopation) you wove in starting around 0;27 as well as the melodic variation throughout. You presented a number of different ideas, all of which fit the packing track superbly. Killer solo, Charlie D. You’re another person (besides Niels) whose take on this brand new backing track I was very much looking forward to hearing.

As soon as I saw we had some new material this week, I began looking forward to hearing what my friend Niels would have to “say” about it. You certainly didn’t disappoint me, Niels. This is some great playing. I knew you’d post something that showed true ownership of this chord progression.

In this same vein, hopefully you find a store that has several. I have a friend who bought a D28 many years ago. The sixth one he tried stood head and shoulders above the first five he tried, at least to his ear and his touch.

Thanks for the reply, @Cadgirl . I know what you mean, and I also am quite sure you know which note is where on the fretboard when you think about it. I just offered that comment for anyone else reading the thread.

I think it’s more that the TAC site re-design was aimed at keeping people like me at bay. The post is really gone, and so is the moment of inspiration that spawned it.

Thanks jumpin’ jeff. I don’t know what happened – I spent a long time writing what I thought was a pretty good reply, then tried to edit it only to tag you and Mike G. Poof – it’s gone. At least you got to see it – you’re probably the only one who did before it vanished. Such is my luck with technology and it’s at least part of the reason I am discouraged from taking the time to try to post here. My time is usually wasted.

@Cadgirl – Just for clarification, the second fret of the A string is a B. There is no C in a G major chord, and adding one would make it a Gadd4, but that’s often done by fretting the B string in the first fret while still including the B in the second fret of the A string.

It is great to hear from you. What’s funny is that you probably had no idea that I am a fruit grower and pie baker when you wished me a “fruitful” journey!

“That’s almost a Canadian nickel.”
I had to laugh at Tom Rush the other night when he quipped, “I’m 80 years old now – that’s 98 Canadian!”

I share the curse (blessing?) of a bass voice. It makes singing lead on most songs pretty difficult unless I have some electronic help. When I sing an octave down from where most songs are written, the guitar sounds OK, but my voice does not project. If I transpose to a range where my voice has some projection, the guitar doesn’t have the tone I like. Oh, well. I have fun with it anyway and I don’t let it stop me. Playing out at open mics has been a blast because amplification takes care of the lack of projection in the lower range for me. It’s funny how a little bit of power makes me a little crazy.

Carol – I will volunteer for the out-of-control group.

Yes, he’ll be here all week working 2 shows a night. Don’t forget to tip your waitstaff with lots of folding money!
