It looks like you have a very nice, well thought out TAC Routine. I like the stretching cheatsheet – I usually stick to the ones that involve my neck/shoulders and the fretting hand/fingers😱 From the photo, it looks like you’re well equipped, so you might be ready to jump right into the VOMs (virtual open mics). Even if you don’t play in one and just watch/listen, it’s awesome to watch other TAC members perform live. Also, I wanted to mention Fretboard Wizard, it’s a great course that contains guitar based music theory and a whole lot more. A lot of “light bulb” moments with that! Can’t wait to hear your Seagull Maritime, I’m sure she sounds as awesome as she looks🤩
Enjoy your journey and have fun

Hi @RayS , Welcome to TAC – Sorry to hear about your misfortune😱 As @Loraine suggests, Fretboard Wizard has a couple of sections devoted to using your ear to find the key to a song, and how to figure out the possible chord progressions for a song. So much more info in that course too. Well worth the extra $👍

That was very nice @JulieI 🤩👏👏👏 And those chord shapes in drop D, that must be like learning a new language😱 right?

Hi @RockMobster , @Loraine has given you an excellent suggestion🤩, you can find free metronome apps for your phone. That’s what I use. 👍
But I have another suggestion that involves an exercise for making chord shapes. For this exercise, place your fretting hand on your knee. Then start counting backwards from 5 to 0. In those 5 seconds, you must move your fretting hand and fret the chord shape properly, then strum on 0. When you strum, it must be a clean sounding chord. Once you’re able to do a clean sounding chord consistently, then you start counting backwards from 3 to 0, same rules apply. Once you’re able to do it within the 3 seconds consistently, then start doing it by counting back from 1 to 0. When you’re able to consistently make that clean sounding chord within 1 second, you’ll have built the muscle memory and coordination for playing that chord from just about any position that your fretting hand is in (including from fretting another chord). This exercise will work for any chord shape, but it requires effort, patience, and practice on your part!

Hi @JT1 , my thoughts and prayers go out to the both of you🙏. I lost my son to leukemia and so I feel that I have an understanding of what you’re going through. May God help you find strength to perceiver.
I wanted to say that I agree 100% with @Stan S’s suggestion, if the situation allows. If you’re able to bring your guitar to where your wife is, I believe it would be very fulfilling to both of you. You don’t have to even be able to play a song, just quietly strumming a few chords or a chord progression would be very beneficial. That way your wife will be able to hear you make music, and you’ll be there spending valuable time with her.
