Just a quick thought. Make sure your hand is forward so that your fingers curve and you get to place your fingertips only on the strings. My G makes my hand look contorted, so @Cadgirl is correct that the ring and pinky are not perpepndicular. My index is actually above the low e, because that keeps it from hitting the A string. There is a slight angle to my hand towards the headstock (allows fingers to rest correctly on the strings). The biggest help is keeping that wrist forward and the fingers curved though. Good luck with it. Hang in there, and you will get it.

Great improv @Lange22 . You had the right tempo for the backing track.

Thank you so much for your thoughts @johnny67 . Music can definitely help through the tough times and be therapeutic.

Truly appreciate your condolences Scott, and I’m working on the music therapy.

Thank you very much @stevieblues , and I’m looking forward to getting back in the groove, although it’s been a slow start this week. I’m having difficulty focusing, but I’m not giving up. I figure that with even short practice times, I’ll still get ahead and it’s a start at least.

@AttyTJ your positivity is infectious! Thank you for the support, and I’ll take you at your word (because I doubt myself).

@Ronlad Thank you for your condolences and mine to you in your loss also. Thank you for reminding me how important music has always been to me. I grew up in the Burbs of Chitown and I remember WLS 780 a.m. fondly too. Chicago has some of the best music. I love Boston and saw them several times during the 70’s and 80’s. Music definitely speaks to my soul like nothing else can do, and it can lift me on a gloomy or sad day. I’ve gotten away from listening to as much music as I used to; mainly because I don’t drive as much since COVID. I just saw Jimmy Buffet last week and it totally lifted me up during a dark time and allowed me a moment of bliss. Now, if only my playing sounded as good as some of the musicians I love I’d be in heaven.
Anyway, thank you for a great post. It made my day! 🌞
