Hi @tern Welcome to the TAC community!
I wouldn’t say your hands are too small. There are children that can play very difficult and intricate chords, and they have very small hands. I think the question that should be asked is whether the neck of your guitar may be too large. Necks come in different lengths, dimensions and shapes. You may want to consider a smaller parlor size guitar that would be more ideal for smaller hands.
I do want to say that I don’t have the largest hands either, and some of the practice lessons utilize chords that my hands just won’t stretch too. Although, the stretch is getting better through continued playing and practicing. A trick is to use a capo and place it on the 5th or 7th fret and practice with the smaller frets that are found up the neck. It is much easier to practice different chords, as well as doing scales and such. As you are able to play at the higher frets, start moving your capo back on the neck and playing at the 5, then the 3, and then open with no capo. Your fingers will become more flexible as you play.

@andrewdwashorgmail-com Welcome to TAC! @Bill_Brown gives a excellent explanation of the strings and how they’re read on the Tab sheet. The difficult thing to wrap our heads around is that the bottom string on the guitar is actually considered the top string, #1, and the string at the top, the low E, is considered the bottom string, #6. The strings are numbered 1 – High E; 2 – B; 3 – G, 4 – D, 5 – A, and 6 – Low E.

@drbrow Congratulations on your 3-year TACiversary! I started during the pandemic too, and I converted my membership to a lifetime membership. TAC credited me back what I had already paid and applied it to the cost ( which was my first years membership cost. Not sure if they would credit you all 3 years, but it can’t hurt to ask. I think the lifetime has already paid for itself.
I have no doubt that you’ll find a group or others to jam with. I can’t imagine your sons denying time playing with yo.

@Rando This is an awesome win! I know how crazy life gets a lot of time, but there is usually time to commit a minimum of 10minutes of guitar into.

Thank you @Marty72 . That’s a compliment I don’t think I’ve had before, so it made my day!

@Bill_Brown Thank you so much for your compliments and for mentioning the improvements in my vocals. Before I couldn’t breath and bring myself to actually sing. It’s been a long road to learn to relax and breath while playing. I’m still clearly working on it, so I hope to keep getting better. It’s funny, because I sing all the time in my car or while working and listening to the radio, and ai can carry a tune. It’s only when trying to project to an audience that I have major troubles.

Cool beans @marty72 . Thank you for the insight into your interpretation of the music, and you absolutely have every right to play it your way. The suggestion was for my own selfish reasons. 🙂
