  • My second TACiversary. And, guitar withdrawal !

Posted by Michael_Green on July 6, 2021 at 8:32 pm

It’s my second taciversary. Well, actually it was at the end of May. I spent the last month building a fence “all by myself” after work and on weekends. I was not allowed to pick up a guitar. Let me tell you. Guitar withdrawal is a real thing. Don’t do it. Don’t go through guitar withdrawal. Please, pick up that guitar. Pluck a string. Oh yeah. You hear that. Strum a chord. That’s what I’m talking about. Can you smell that guitar wood. It’s ok. Your safe. Your in a safe place now. If you or someone you know is suffering from guitar withdrawal. Please, get help now. A guitar sitting alone in the dark, is a bad thing.

Now I want to talk about typing. Can you type? Are you a one finger per hand typer? Or, do you set your hands and fingers in the home position and use all your fingers? How did you learn to type? Did you take a class? Or, self taught. “WHAT DOES IT MATTER”? Well hang on now. I took two years of typing in high school. I didn’t need two years but, I just liked typing. It took a while to learn. But now, I don’t even think about what key I need to hit for what letter. I just hit the right key and only think about what I am typing. This is muscle memory. I don’t think too much about it. It just happens. The guitar is the same way. I realized over the last two years, that muscle memory really comes into play when playing the guitar. I work on some lick and play it very slow and think that there is no way I can get this. Now, I can play that lick without even thinking about it. Performing the daily challenges has given my the mechanical ability to traverse the guitar fretboard and realize that there is nothing to be afraid of.

I am looking forward to the next TAC year. I am now so into the guitar, that I’m building a studio in my home. I hope to put up a lot of videos. And I want to start my own youtube channel. Playing music and showing people how to play and record songs. And remember. Guitar withdrawal is a real thing.

Your TAC anniversary sounds great. Your own studio, how cool is that. I have to look up how to utilize youtube. I haven’t even uploaded anything yet, and your going to have your own channel. I have to look into that sort of stuff. I will say this site has helped me out a lot. I no longer wander in the dark looking for something to do on my guitar. ha ha ha….. again, congrats

Happy 2nd TACiversary👏👏 @Michael_Green 🎂 I had typing in high school, but only 1 semester, and I wasn’t good at it then, and certainly worse now (only 2 fingers on each hand at best). Wishing you the best for this coming year with TAC and your guitar journey – and no more guitar withdrawals👍

That is excellent, Mr. Green. Thank you for describing the before and after your playing breakthrough. We are all after that .

Get that Studio done. It makes everything so much easier and doing a YouTube channel myself, that is great fun! Congrats on your 2 years (and more by now!)
