T.J’s 3rd TACiversary – Progress, a joy to behold in a Universe of Music:
1. Where were you with guitar when you joined?
I was almost 20 years past the last time I picked up a guitar to try to learn to play it. I felt the need to know enough not to embarrass myself in a local jam, and I came here to TAC. (I didn’t know it in 2019, but Guitar became my primary Covid Distraction, thanks to all with whom I have interacted in the last 3 years.)
2. What are three things you can do now that you couldn’t do before TAC?
I play and host at VOM’s, (play in public). <div>
I understand barre chords and why they are useful. I can even play some (note, not all) competently.

I have good friends that encourage me to progress and grow. Most valuable thing TAC has brought to me, and I have not even met most of them live, yet.
3. Complete this statement: It would be amazing if this time next year I can ________.
Last Year: Say I actually posted one or more of the improvs that happen every Wednesday. Check
Be able to finger pick most of the songs I am learning, and be willing to post it, or do it at a VOM or a Live Open Mic (when they return). (one down, more to come.) Nope, a goal again this year.
Be able to determine the key for a song by ear so I can play along without a chord sheet or tab. UH, truthfully, NOPE, a goal again this year.
Next Year: To have posted the 24 or more Songs suggested by others for me to learn. At least 2 per month starting in January 2022. (January is covered.)
This Journey is only expanding, TAC is like the universe as I discern it, and all the galaxies spawned of friends, forums, instruction ideas, songs, and building of Live Jams again is what causes the Spin to be Glorious.

Hey well done on Year 3 🎉🌟🌟🌟. Plenty more track on the road by the sounds of it and great job on the VOMs. I am hoping to get to more now. Hope next year brings you closer to more of your goals but more than that, just enjoying the playing. Keep on Rockin 🤟😎🎸

Happy, happy 3rd TACiversary @AttyTJ !! I’ve been an observer and witness to your progress over the past 1 1/2 years, and you’ve come so far. I think the VOMs have been really good for you. Your performances have continued to improve as have your vocals. Keep it up! Whatever you’re doing is working.

So, as usual, your TACiversary post is one of the best I’ve seen. I always really appreciated your contributions to the community, @AttyTJ . I love that you kept track of your goals for last year and were able to see the progress you made and what you still need to work on. I guess it makes sense that keeping track should have been obvious, but that’s why the community is so helpful, because I miss an awful lot of things that “should” be obvious.
Of course, the second thing that occurs to me is that I hadn’t seen your TACiversary post and responded until now. I am surprised and need to put more effort into the TAC forum and less effort into the JMG forum. I owe TAC for everything that my guitar journey encompasses and want to give back. JMG is a wonderful VOM receptacle, but I don’t feel it deserves my time and effort like TAC does.
Ok, so time to get down to the Congrats, Bravos, and Kudos. Great job, buddy, and I’m really happy that I have had the privilege of being one of the people in your guitar journey and “Musical Universe”. It’s wonderful to see your progress and be a part of those who are making progress. How blessed are we?
