Nice. Wasn’t expecting the 12 string when I clicked over to this.

Thanks, TX. Been playing the twelve string more since I got it set up recently. The

action is easier than it was, now.

Nice work on the twelve string! I always fumble my way through those runs on mine, but you were very smooth!

Thanks, Eric. I put in my time on it, and it’s a great twelve string song.

Fun tune! Looked challenging on the 12 string, but you nailed it. Great job!

Have to warm up that song for at least ten or fifteen minutes before recording–even though I’ve been playing it for years. But I love playing it, in spite of that.

I’d be so honored if any song I played got people on their feet! Thanks for the feedback, Alisa!

Very nice, thanks for sharing. That looked like a real fretting challenge but you nailed it.

Thanks for the positive feedback, SherryH! Glanced at your 90 day goals and that they were similar to my last batch. Good luck with it.

Very cool. Regrettably I remember when this song was newly released by TRS. 😟

As I recall they played a 12 string on that recording as well, so well done !

What’s sad about having heard these songs on the radio, or Ed Sullivan, or whatever?

I enjoyed that era’s sounds as much as I liked the Beatles. How did your gig go?

Looks like a tune you’ve always wanted to play! And 2 mics….as well as a voice amp somewhere…has there been discussions on TAC about best mics for those who just play at home?

You prob know this tune was recorded in late 1920s by Gus Cannon. When I read folkie Patrick Sky’s NYTimes obit on Sunday, it referenced what was then the folk boom—imagine that in 1964, Broadside newsletter in G’wich Village started “singing newspapers” events and performers would come by and sing topical songs, often written for the occasion. Pete Seeger was MC of Singing Newspaper Village Gate premiere in 1964, and 500 people showed up! Sky, Jack Elliot, Phil Ochs, Paxton, Buffy, Jack Elliott performed….

There have been discussions on Tony’s website (by others, not Tony) about mikes and other equipment you might want to improve your online (and other) sound. But my mikes were bought in ’76 or ’77 and just sitting around since the early 80’s. I got a Focusrite Scarlett 2I2 to plug the mikes into and hook up to my desktop.

If you ‘attend’ the open mike events mentioned on the Play for Others forum site, you’ll see a lot fancier set ups then mine there on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

I am familiar with the folkies you mention, but not so much with the Greenwich Village scene back then.

Was so sorry to read that Pat Sky has gone. He was indeed a very special Village Folkie, and one of my favorites.

Very very nice Guerra6007 – you inspire me to pick up my 12 string more often. Thanks.

Oddly enough, the twelve string is easier on my fingertips when they get a little sore from one of my bad jukebox sessions. LOL.

That was really nice. Liked your playing and the sound of that 12-string. And you have a nice voice; suits the song, IMO.

Thanks, JoeW! Appreciate your input. Still reaching for a little more authenticity when singing but enjoying the heck out of trying it anyway.
