First TAViversary
I have/had been a wanna-be guitar player since I was 12. One-two-skip a few and fifty years later I picked up a guitar again and was stoked playing a few chords and blues riffs. I got off the ground with the help of lessons from Justin Sandercoe and a terrific local finger style instructor who had great patience to teach me basic finger picking patterns and “trained” my thumb. But, I still needed to learn many basic fundamentals like how to strum and flat pick. Along the wayI viewed hundreds of Youtube lessons on technique, theory and songs. After several years I became frustrated because I wasn’t focused and really not improving commensurate the practice time put in. Does this story sound familiar? I t’s the formula for the cure called TAC.
So, a year ago I hooked onto the TAC Daily challenge. Tony’s structure of the weekly lessons is genius to learn associated fundamental skills and theory in a practical way. My TAC stats show I have completed about 220 playing sessions, completed several skills courses, which I feel are a big wins. The frustrations are now fading and I can feel and hear my guitar playing improving. Importantly, a BIG thank you to the TAC team and members who have supported me through the forums and daily challenge comments. Did I mention all of this has been a blast!
Looking forward, my TAC goals over the next few months will be to continue to improve my flat picking, finger picking and strumming such that I can move between them at a variety of speeds (quarter-eighth-sixteenth notes) and sustain a 4/4 count working up to say five minutes. Next, is to practice intervals for pentatonic and major scales across the fret-board. Start and complete the fret-board wizard and few other skill courses. In addition, I hope to record and submit a song or two to the TAC forum for review and participate in a jam session. My TAC goals maybe a little ambitious but I thinks most of it is doable!
On my guitar journey I have become humbled by and in awe of the magic of the guitar to express music from the heart. Cheers to the TAC community!

P.s. Happy Mother’s Day to all the TAC Community Moms
