Loraine S – Strumming – I Can See Clearly Now the Rain Has Stopped
Posted by Loraine on May 28, 2021 at 10:35 amI’ve been working on my chord transitions and strumming. Not perfected, but I’m happy with my progress. There is a slow down and volume reduction called for in the chorus. After listening to the recording, I realize I need to slow it down even more and lower the volume during the chorus. For a VOM (live) I was happy with it.

Nice job! You should be happy with your progress. The strumming was good; and your transitions better and better.

That was good @Loraine 👏👏👏 your strumming was very nice and consistent, I could sing the song while you were playing it because you didn’t skip a beat!
Great song choice by the way🤩 Bright – Bright – Sunshiny Day🌞

That is probably one of the highest compliments I could receive @Bill_Brown . I love the song and wish I could sing and play it together, but I’m happy to just be improving in chord transitions and learning to strum more smoothly and consistently.

You deserve nothing less @Loraine 👍 That was done in front of an audience, and I know first hand, how hard it is to maintain concentration while playing in front of others😱

Good song. When you add the vocals, it will naturally slow and steady your rhythm. Thanks for sharing.

HaHaHa the rain has stopped…not here! Great strumming and chord transitioning and playing in front of an audience with no music! 👏
-
Haha- yeah this rain is becoming old, but nearly another week of it to go (sigh). Thank you for your kind words!

Brilliant Loraine, The strumming pattern was great all the way through. As a moving average you’re killing it. Fantastic. Wish I could stick to a strumming pattern like that. Mine goes all wonky after about the third bar. lol.

@Loraine , I agree singing and strumming are harder than it should be. You did really well. Chord changes were clear and no buzzing. Playing in front of people no less. EXCELLENT, My brother wanted me to play a song that I have been practicing for months now…. As soon as I started my mind went blank. Ha ha ha, Again, sounded great. Rock on.

Thank you kind sir! The memorization helped so I didn’t get lost In tablature.

I would agree @Loraine that was some advice I received as well. It seems to go more smoothly for me if I memorize. That being said, recently during a VOM I was daydreaming, and looking at the lyrics to a song I memorized at the same time I was trying to sing it, and forgot completely for a moment what I was doing or singing… I had to collect myself and look away from the music to finish… I thought it was funny.
Taking the time to memorize something has helped me immensely.

Hi, Loraine,
Your strumming pattern is nice and your transitions sound smooth.

That’s great, Loraine! Very consistent strumming and chord changes.
Thank you for posting this! It’s lovely to see a typical guitar player in this forum (not only the semi-professionals). It gives me so much encouragement to see a video I can relate to.
-
Thanks @Alisa ! I agree that the level of talent of some folks is way ahead of me. I post regardless – the good, the bad and the ugly. I can see my improvement through the videos. I didn’t know anything about the guitar before joining TAC last year, and I’m happy with where I’m at right this sec. keep plunking, as I like to say, and you’ll see improvement over time.

@Loraine That was super awesome!! Your strumming is rock solid, down, down, up, up, down, up, like a metronome!! And your chord transitions on your right hand are smooth too! I found myself singing along as this is one of my fav songs (my parents used to listen to this stuff when I was a kiddo). Extra credit due to playing live at open mic, which we all know is tons more difficult than without an audience!!
This will continue to improve as you keep playing it, until it becomes autopilot and then you will be able to sing along as you play 🙂
Until then I will keep playing your video and singing along to it, hehe. Keep up the good work!!!

Your continued support and kind words mean so much to me @Carol-3M-Stillhand . I’m glad you enjoyed it.
