NGD – Maybe it's Time (Cover) – Kurt
Posted by RealKurt on May 10, 2021 at 9:46 pmHey there TAC,
I just picked up a new-to-me guitar this past Saturday, and I think I’m ij love. The guitar is a “2018 Martin 00-17 Authentic 1931”. So basically it’s a new guitar made to old specs based on scans of an actual 1931 00-17. Torrified mahogany top, mahogany back and sides, all hide glue construction, all Brazilian accoutrements – headstock overlay, fingerboard, bridge, binding. 1 7/8″ nut, 2 5/16″ bridge spacing. No truss rod, and they actually oversprayed the pick guard! Also, I had to order a new capo because my old one doesn’t fit past the 3rd fret, the folks at Elliott Capo can accommodate though!
About the tune: I learned a basic version of this tune a couple years ago and dusted it off for the first time in a long time during Saturday’s Virtual Open Mic hosted elsewhere and on Zoom. The song is called “Maybe it’s Time” written Jason Isbell and performed by Bradley Cooper for the movie “A Star is Born”.
Hope you like it.
Kurt

Ha! Wouldn’t that be a dream, thanks bud!! Hopefully post pandemic I can start doing more open mics and I’m talking to a local performer about some opener slots!

I know people who do paying gigs who aren’t as good as you are @RealKurt. If you want a paying gig, all you would need to do is put yourself out there. Problem is, you might not make enough money for it to be worth your while.

Thanks Michelle! This year of VOMs has really helped me progress I think. A pretty nice silver lining to an otherwise awkward year!

Oh Yeah @RealKurt ! I heard you play this at the SNL VOM also. The sound is so much better on this YouTube vid. I totally agree with @Jumpin’Jeff and @Bill_Brown that you have all the chops to become a professional performer. Your vocals are amazing and your guitar playing is also wonderful. The combination is mesmerizing. If nothing else, start your own YouTube channel. Let the TAC community know so we can subscribe and share to the world. You WILL end up with a following.

WOW!! Thanks Phil, our resident Bluegrass guru! I’m really hoping to do some live open mic’s post pandemic and I’m hoping to start doing some show openers for some local bands too. Let’s hope we’re back open for music soon!

Thanks Kevin! I know you’ve been working hard on the guitar chops and showing real progress (congrats BTW) – and your vocals are already right where they need to be, love all the emotion that pours through your microphone!

Awesome new guitar, congratulations! And awesome performance (of course that’s not new).

Thanks Nolan, maybe one day my shoulders will be able to tolerate a dread again, but it the meantime I’ll hope to make these small bodies guitars SING!

@RealKurt I am blown away how great this performance was! Now how wonderful is that Guitar🥰 but I want you to know just how much you have grown in your playing!!! Your quick hammer on’s and turn arounds. We all know and love your killer vocals!!! But dude you know have it all in your finger tips as well. So I just wanted you too know how far I personally feel you have grown on the playing skills. Ok now that you have it all, I will get too say. I knew him when😉

Thanks for the lovely remarks on my playing progress, I think this last year at home has been really helpful in that regard – plenty of string time. I’m getting closer to where I’d like to be, and I’m loving every step along the way! We’ll see about some live performances when the world is open for business again, and I’m looking forward to it!
