Old Man by Neil Young
Posted by ElloranJ on May 30, 2024 at 1:32 pmLove CSN & Y, and the chords and melody to this one…decided to learn it, even if I’m a woman, lol! Would love to record one by a favorite female artist soon!

Well done! Sounding great. You did a good job singing it, and your guitar was ringing out clean and clear.

Thank you, Phil! This was such a wonderful learning experience – from learning the song; then the lyrics; then putting them together and recording it on the video on my phone camera and then learning how to upload it to Youtube and finally to here! Not to mention having the guts to do it. I really feel like I’m growing in this “class” and appreciate the kind words!

That was great. Now that I’m technically an old man (80) I can really identify with this song and you did a wonderful job. I wish i could have seen a little more of your guitar so I could see even more of your playing. Thanks again

Thank you, Mrfredsporty. I will keep the visibility of the guitar in mind the next time I record a song. I did have a capo on the third fret because I couldn’t go as low as Neil Young nor sing an octave higher, lol.

That was great. It is not easy to sing while playing guitar and you did a great job at both.

Real Nice job there @ElloranJ
This tune is one of my favorites – don’t think I have it quite down as well as you do, but working on it.
-
Thank you, Chuck! You will probably do much better on the vocals than I!

Great job, great effort, great results, keep polishing that gem! You have it sounding great right now, wish I could sing so well, your voice is silky smooth!! ☆☆☆☆☆

Great job on both the vocals and guitar! Keep going, sounding great!

Thank you! Love your photo with your granddaughter (I assume!) I will get my first in October, the Lord willing! So excited!

Yes – I have 8 grandchildren, she is a sweetheart! They are a big part of my inspiration to play guitar and hopefully pass on a passion for music. Congratulation on your Grandchild in October, they are the best!

Really nicely done. Good rhythm and nice strumming patterns.

Very nicely done! You play very confidently and your singing is beautiful.
I’ve spent many weekends in Winter Haven at my 3 daughters’ softball tournaments. I live in Lake County but our teams scheduled so many tournaments in Polk!Peter

Loved it! You played and sang it like you’ve done it many times– very “comfortable” with it. I’m a Neil Young fan in general… but really only a few of his songs, not all. And this song is one of them. Thanks for sharing– well done!

Nice job there @Elloranj. This is one of my favorites to mess around with. Of course, there are a number of variations and even old Neil plays it differently every time he does it. It is just a great tune and you did a nice job covering it.
It is just a great tune and you did a nice job covering it. Nice that you can sing as wellGri a skill I sorely lack. Unfortunately, some of the lyrics really hit home with me now, as my wife passed away in Feb. Thank God for the guitar!!
