    I thought of this song last night, worked on it for an hour, and recorded two verses. Of course, no one sings it like Tennessee Ernie Ford; and I am not a good vocalist, so the thought of improving that part had a reality check after a few takes. I used the old, Stella 12 string; which I thought gave it a bit of an old time sound; but it is so much thicker and wider that I was struggling with it. I need to play it more often to get used to it.

    OMG what a COOL!!!! Guitar

    Great job on the playing the intro riff was especially fun! Your vocals probably sound better to us than to you. This is how the song should be sung. not everything looks (or sounds) better with a high a level of polish on it. this was a genuine take on it.

    Great song @Philb 👏👏👏 You played that very well – loved that percussion at the beginning of each verse👍👍 Listening to it reminded me of my younger days when my friends and I would go camping. We’d sit around the campfire after a hard day of rafting through the rapids and pass the whisky bottle around and sing songs🎸 howl at the moon – that one was my favorite. Thanks for evoking those pleasant memories😎

    @Loraine It is a fun one to listen to and sing.
    @Alfred You’re right; a little roughness sounds good on some songs.
    @Bill_Brown It sounds like a great time was had by all.
    @Alisa So glad it made you happy. We could all use some of that each day.

    Awesome tune @philb! Well done! Very cool that you have an old Stella 12-string!

    Classic axe, but it must be a bit like trying to fret a Louisville slugger! ⚾ That was a fun listen.

    I think your voice coupled with the sound of that awesome 12 string and great song really worked! Very gritty and fitting! @Philb

    Love that song! Great job! I have NEVER held, much less played, a 12 string. Really neat sound.

    @charlie_d That’s a great comparison. LOL It is a big neck. Thank you
    @Marisa Thanks for listening, and your generous words!
    @Donald Thank you! They are a fun guitar. I don’t play it a lot, but I like the sound on some things. If you get the chance, sit down and mess around with one. A newer one will be easier to handle than this one from about 1963 or 64.

    @Bspada
    Thank you for taking a listen, and your gracious words. The song is such a classic. I remember seeing Tennessee Ernie Ford sing it on a black and white TV in the 50’s.

    @Philb , I was going through the older play for us videos when I came across this one. The way you performed this song was awesome IMHO and I thought the newer TAC members that do look at the Forums should have a chance to see🤩🎸

      Thanks Bill. I had forgotten about this one. Almost two years ago now. I wish the guy singing had a better voice. LOL
