  • This is my 6th TACiversary Story

Posted by Marty73 on December 17, 2023 at 5:50 am

Today is my 6th TACIVERSARY (2,079 Playing Sessions)

I joined TAC on Dec. 18th 2017 but my profile date is shown as of Jan. 1st, 2018.

“So I am celebrating my TACIVERSARY on Dec. 18th, 2022”

    1. Where were you with guitar when you joined?

In the beginning, I played guitar off and on for many year. I just learned basic chords. I was self taught.

I played a 12 string Ovation for 5 years with a church folk group on Sundays & at special public events. “Life got in the way” and I put the guitar down for over 30 years.

I got the itch to play again after so many years and had to pick up the guitar because it was driving me nuts!! After picking it up again, I had to go through the pain of rebuilding the calluses on my fingers. What a pain that was! I also found out that I was much older and the fingers were not as nimble as they use to be. (arthritis)

I got stuck in a rut with my playing and was becoming frustrated till TAC came into my life. All changed after that!

I do know how to read standard music and how to transpose a song and how to use a capo.

I am also now a FRETBOARD WIZARD Grad and was a TAC Mentor under the old Forum

I have done FRETBOARD WIZARD 4 times. I use this course as a refresher when Tony runs it. The “Newbie’s” motivate me in the live sessions and I find them educational. The new re-write of the FRETBOARD WIZARD is Outstanding! You did a nice job on it Tony. Your section on the CAGED system was simplified!

    2. What are three things you can do now that you couldn’t do before TAC?

    1) I can now write my own songs and transpose them, if I have to, thanks to FretBoard Wizard

    2) I can now play songs from memory and don’t have to rely on a cheat sheets.

I learned how to finger pick for the first time on TAC Something I always wanted to learn to do!!! And my speed is getting faster and faster! lol

I have learned lot of songs this past year and have memorized many of them I have over 150 songs in my guitar list!!! I have over 90 songs posted on Youtube.

I have also moved up the neck and am playing more bar chords!

I have be gone to developed my own style of playing.

    3) I have played live on VOM and am getting over the stage fright

    4) I am sing more now than ever before

    3. Complete this statement: It would be amazing if this time next year I can ________.

Do split screen videos of me playing all parts of a song, become more comfortable at playing solo’s. (This still hasn’t happen) and how to use a pedal.

Find local player to jam with.

I believe in Tony’s teaching method so much that I became a Life Member! Thanks Tony and TAC staff!

What a great journey and inspiration to me! Your next year goals are encouraging me to do the same. I’m behind you at almost 1700 sessions and my TACaversary isn’t until March but I am with you regarding Fretboard Wizard and Lifetime memberships. New people to TAC should seriously take the leap. In the long run they both improve the experience. Great musical joy to you this New Year.
