I liked the lesson too. I like the idea of implamenting enting non barre movable shapes. I will probably come back to this lesson several times. And congrats on your win. This week’s lessons have been very fun for me

Your Description alone made this fun! 🤣🤣

You did a good job on this song, I never really listened to the lyrics before. I will never hear the song the same again. Either way thanks for sharing the song, you sing well.

That was a great performance tonight Marquita. My mom had a ton of the albums you have been pulling music from lately so they are really fun for me. Always reminds me of summer with all the doors and windows open throughout the house. Always made the place smell like pine and cedar, which are smells I still love.

Well, welcome to TAC! A brand new beginner, the guitar world is your oyster! I hope you enjoy the journey. Remember that the awkwardness and finger pain will get less in time. Guitar is definitely worth the effort.

Here is to many small wins to you along the way ☺️

    This is just my opinion…

If you are completely new to guitar or super rusty-30 days to play, then learn a song as soon as you can. That’s why we learn guitar after all.

The minute you can play your first song through, then FBW. It will give you the why (and how songs are arranged) behind what you are doing so you can better understand your instrument, and get you primed for ear training. I still haven’t finished it, but will soon. That should have been my first stop as far as my personal journey.

Buying FBW right up front was a good choice

    In response to this
” Where do I look for the tabs to print? Sorry, only been doing TAC for 2 weeks, but love it.”

Bottom right of the video just to the right of the heart icon there should be an icon that looks like an eighth note. That is the link. If you don’t see the note icon, just move your mouse slowly to the right of the heart until it looks like your cursor has changed like it is over a link and click. that should get you the tabs.

[NOTE]I got logged out in the middle of typing this… so here are the long winded cliff notes[/NOTE]

Ok, lets, try to clear your mind of chord names based on shapes. we will set up the translation like this…
    C shape = Shape 1
    A shape = Shape 2
    G shape = Shape 3
    E Shape = Shape 4
    D Shape = Shape 5

The shape numbers will be how I refer to them from here out.
If you Play Shape 3 open you get a G chord with the root note on the 6th string (also known as low E). So if you Capo up on the 3rd Fret, and play the same shape, then that Chord is a step and a half higher than what that shape would be played in the open position. So a Step and a half from G you get A#

So Capoed on the third fret your shapes resolve to these chords

    Shape 1 = D#
    Shape 2 = C
    Shape 3 = A#
    Shape 4 = G
    Shape 5 = F

To Keep this all straight in your head. The high e being string 1 and low E being string 6 the root notes for each shape are as follows.

    Shape 1 – String 5
    Shape 2 – String 5
    Shape 3 – String 6
    Shape 4 – String 6
    Shape 5 – String 4

Knowing where the root is for each chord will help you count up and down when you use the capo to transpose. At least learning the notes on strings 4,5,and 6 (or at least what the notes are on the dot inlays) will help you immensely with this.

I hope that this was clear, and not confusing, and helpful to you.

I had problems with photos too. I haven’t got a picture with me in it yet… I suppose I should do that and resubmit so I am at least participating properly.

    I like your Write Up!

Aw sad days… At least they have music in their lives! You need a Uke @AttyTJ shoot in my humble opinion (and George Harrison’s, and Eddie Vedder’s) all guitarists need a uke in their life!

It’s her project but… It would cool with the last week being a countdown of redo’s of her first week. I think that would be cool since there has been obvious growth.

    Its under the skills section

Finger Stretch 5 Day Challenge. Only I am ignoring the challenge part and using them to warm up before running scales right before my daily 10 minute challenge in the morning. I would be way behind where I am now without the stretchy finger exercises. The pain is worth the gain
