the TAC daily challenge isn’t set up as a from step a to step b kind of thing. It is a method to get you practicing something new and interesting, and hopefully challenging for a minimum time each day.

If you have not already done so, try the 30 days to play course which is set up to get you from 0 to playing, or as a refresher if you are just coming back from a long vacation from guitar.

After that take the skills courses that interest you. The one thing that a lot of other pay sites are missing is the practice portion. Practicing consistently is probably the most important thing you can do with whatever style guitar you want to learn. I have begun using the TAC learning method with things that aren’t even presented here with good effect.

In the end it is hard to connect the dots from practice to where you want to go for anyone other than yourself. Stay motivated… and if you haven’t yet, take what you have learned and and apply it to learning a song you love. That helps keep the fires stoked.

    OMG what a COOL!!!! Guitar

Great job on the playing the intro riff was especially fun! Your vocals probably sound better to us than to you. This is how the song should be sung. not everything looks (or sounds) better with a high a level of polish on it. this was a genuine take on it.

    Thanks @Philib and @Loraine
I worked pretty hard to come up with the arrangement, though it sounds simple enough, and really is. It is now really fun to play.

Well, I played it in the original key, just capo’d it up so I could play it like it was in the Key of C so I could follow a nice baseline and make it more interesting to play solo

Thanks, I am glad you liked it!

I just thought you would get a chuckle out of my Dad’s last verse. I thought it was funny.
I liked your strumming version too. It is legit! that’s the fun of folk music. there is no “right” way to do it.

Thanks @Alisa I grew up listening to my Dad and Uncle play traditional songs, and songs from the 50’s and 60’s . My Dad also played classical. When I started TAC in February some of the bass runs were beyond me. While they haven’t been lessons on the site per-se I have used the TAC method to learn the style of guitar. I will be using the same method going forward for other learning projects as well.

It may be that I am subconsciously developing a style of my own, which is cool in itself

  • I would agree @Loraine that was some advice I received as well. It seems to go more smoothly for me if I memorize. That being said, recently during a VOM I was daydreaming, and looking at the lyrics to a song I memorized at the same time I was trying to sing it, and forgot completely for a moment what I was doing or singing… I had to collect myself and look away from the music to finish… I thought it was funny.

Taking the time to memorize something has helped me immensely.
