I am not so steeped in Woody Guthrie…
I finally quenched my curiosity and looked up his relationship to Arlo Guthrie (with whom I am more familiar) Wouldn’t you know it… Arlo’s Dad… Makes sense.

Wow, you are cranking them out lately @Loraine Good work. False starts are part of the game anyway. I enjoyed that and nice melody picking there

Careful you can start a fire that way lol
Congratulations. Even the slow speed can be elusive on a speed challenge!

Nicely Done!
We had to learn this in AP German in High school, you did a nice job. The German wasn’t too bad considering. The grammar in German is a little like Yoda speaking.
Good job on the song, thanks for posting!

I just use a condenser USB Mic
I will upgrade to an AI some day. I know that there are a lot of setups out there, some more complex than others. Just upgrading to a cartoid USB condenser mic made a difference for me from just using the built in microphone. -
I struggled for ages with C, and only played Fmaj7 for years before I played barre chorrds to get an F – the mini F NEVER worked for me.
How did I get over it… Well for some of it I just let that C chord sound bad with muted strings and buzzing just to get through a song. Otherwise it was a matter of being patient enough to slowly put my hand in position every day and in a very bored manner plucking each string until I had a clean chord. If I knew then what I know now, I would have stopped that practice once I got the clean chord each time but… hindsight
Eventually your fingers learn and it gets easier. If you can get something that looks like a D and 2 of three strings ring, then go ahead and play your song. It probably won’t sound as bad as you think.
If your D is only muting the high e string for instance, it will still sound fine when you strum the song. not a soul will notice unless they have “perfect pitch” and are just being picky. You can do this.

NAH, it was a great time to post. Post it when you have it cleaned up too! you can have a look at the difference that practice makes. Besides, I could listen again. This was a good take though.

I was able to convince myself that I wasn’t actually recording until the end lol.
Thanks!

It is, an Oliver. I am a little sad that my recording equipment doesn’t do it justice. This song (and most finger picked songs) sound better on my $300 Oliver than they do on my $1600 Taylor, but the Taylor records better… I keep putting off my recording system though. I need to get round to doing something about that this summer.
And thank you
