Another point is to have the “action” as low as possible. This means the strings are as close to the frets without buzzing. This makes both hammer ons and pull offs much easier in my opinion.

Kay,
Great to hear that you are going to play the guitar. When I went on a trip last year, I took this collapsible guitar:
https://journeyinstruments.com/product-category/overhead-firstclass-collapsible-wood-guitars/
I rented it from a local guitar shop where I live and it cost me just over $90 for the month. I was actually only gone for 21 days but the monthly rate worked out to be cheaper and gave me a bit of leeway returning the guitar.
Good luck!

Everyone struggles a bit with some or all of the lessons each week… I normally try to do my 10 minutes. If I get the daily challenge then I move on. I feel I can do it better, then I tag it as a favorite so I can go to it later. Then on another day, when I have more time, I simply go back to it and try it again (and again)… Once I THINK I am comfortable with my playing the lesson, I remove it from my favorites and give myself a small win!
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi @Donnie_1020
I totally agree with Loraine. I have the Taylor GS mini and it is perfect for my son (aged 9) to play!

Impressive… 2 hours on your 2nd day? Your fingers are sore? Everyone here has replied back to you and I totally agree with them.
Step back, mark it complete and go onto the next lesson. You can always come back to it and you might realize that it wasn’t so hard the next time around.
All the guitarists here have been in your same boat and it will get easier.

Welcome to TAC!
Since both Scott and Lorraine already mentioned what I was going to say I won’t repeat it.
However, you mentioned if your are too small, or guitar too big.
What size guitar to you have? Maybe go to your local guitar store and see if you can try out a travel guitar instead. Travel guitars normally have a smaller fret board so if you find that easier to play, maybe see if you can rent it? Travel guitars have a shorter distance between the frets. Hopefully that works and you will be playing for many years to come!

Welcome to TAC!
Since you are just starting, it will take a bit of time for your fingers to stretch in order to reach the other frets. Beside the stretching course, you could also move the up the fret board to say 5th/7th fret and do the Blues Shuffle there as the frets are closer together – small win!
Then once you are comfortable move back down the fret board, say 3rd and 5th fret and try the shuffle there. Before you know it, you will be able to do the shuffle at 2nd/4th fret!
Hope the helps! Keep up the great work!

First of all, welcome to TAC!
You definitely have an absolutely fantastic routine! I definitely wish I could spend that much time!
You are on the right track. It does take time to develop the muscle memory in your fretting hand for the make the chords without looking at the fretboard. I have been playing on/off for almost 40 years now and I still have trouble with some chords but they are a work in progress as is everything else.
Keep what you are doing and I guarantee you that in a few months at this pace YOU WILL SEE an improvement.
As for me, I practice Su-Th, with TAC for about 15 minutes, then put on a blues backing track (in whatever key, say Am) from youtube and using that Am key, I play solos with the Am scale for maybe another 10 minutes.
I then try and play a few songs. Maybe some that I know and some that I want to learn for about 15 minutes.
Other days, I manage to only do the TAC segment and nothing else.
I have a group of friends that I play in a garage band. I have been playing those songs for about 15 years so it is mostly about drinking beer!!!
I hope this helps. Please keep playing and you will find success sooner than later.

Here are the pdfs to last month’s week 4. If you need any others, I can send them as well. Good luck!

No problem… If you are looking for the videos, I would check out @Loraine “My Favorites” as she is really good at “hearting” the lessons…

Hi Loraine
I think I am missing the last 3 lessons for January. I have up to “Roller Skating Rink”
I looked on your profile but I do not know the names of the lessons that I am missing?
Do you know what they are? Does someone else here?
thanks so much!
