And the hits just keep on coming! I noted a little procussion starting to creep in.

Is the banjo for decoration or can you plunk on it too?

I haven’t looked at that lesson in a long time, but I think the first thing the tab does is introduce the chords A, D, and E. Then it starts the 12 bar blues. There will be twelve measures. 4 A measures, 2 D measures, 2 A measures, 1 E measure, 1 D measure, and finally 2 A measures. (4+2+2+1+1+2=12). I haven’t watched the video again but that’s what the tab is doing. There are really two sections. A practice section first, then a song section. I hope I understand your question. You will come to love many variations of the 12 bar blues. Have fun.

Great. And I’m sure it will be a strong finish to the week too.

See tomorrow’s lesson. It is a four note bass walk but I think you’ll get the idea. The formula is really to walk a couple notes back so you land on the bass note of the next chord.

I’m sure you will get there. I’ve been volunteering teaching Ukulele to underserved 4th graders. They are so bad when they start, but they are getting it even if they only get to come to lessons once a month. One might try playing in front of a mirror so you don’t look “down” on the fretboard laying too flat. That makes one’s wrist stressed and makes it very hard to get one’s fingers to curl around the fretboard. Or just hold the fretboard more perpendicular to the ground. I know you can’t see it as well but you may picture it and your fretting hand will love you more.

No not necessarily? The speed changes on my iPad are different in sound (echoing as you say) on my desktop. It can be screwy.

One doesn’t have to press that hard to put the string against the fret. That is why I like frets. (Violins don’t have them). You might review YouTube videos on finger positioning. The thumb is an anchor on the back and with the guitar neck higher and not leaning over the body, one’s wrist can be straighter. I’ve seen people use a pencil to create distance between the side of the neck and the hand to get an idea of the space around which to curl your fingers got that that G,C, or D chords. I’ve also seen a practice technique where one doesn’t really press with their thumb just to experience how little pressure is needed to put the string against the fret. Mostly don’t worry. You’ll get there. It’s not about the calluses. It about flexibility and muscle memory.

You can hear a key change. It is like the whole floor (or root note) moves. One rarely changes the key and when you do you move into a different scale. The major key/scale will be the following intervals- WWhWWWh (Whole step [2 steps]=W, half step [1fret)=h), the minor key/scale will be WhWWhWW. I hope I understand the question and this helps.

Where you are is where you are. As Tony says, “Comparative thinking is where fun goes to die.” Just keep at it and trust the process. It works. You will feel it in spurts but one day you look back and “Voila, your actually having fun and your getting decent.” I will celebrate my 5th Taciversary in March and am so appreciative I’ve been doing it.

Well celebrate you did! How nice to have some folks to play with. You appear to be enjoying yourself immensely.

I too struggle with certain rhythm techniques but once I get the muscle memory to kick in through repetition I find the new tools quite motivating. Good win.

Back in town to find your camera. I do like your song selections. Salt of the earth stuff. Good job.
