Sorry to read of your departure. You have been a steady and strong and reasonable co-learner. Best of wishes on your continuing journey. You will be missed.

What fun. Playing with grandkids is the best.

Well that was more than a try. It was a do. With a lot of thought put into it. I like those little minor chords you slip into the progression to convey the emotion behind the lyrics.
Good job.

No, I doubt it because that would likely trigger some copyright issues. I’m not an attorney but I suspect that the techniques, licks, scales, chord progressions and transitions are public domain. The full song sheet and whole tab and lyrics are likely someone’s intangible property. But you can see Tony play a chunk or near rendition of a song on Mondays. I like Guitar Tabs from which to pull lyrics and chord progressions.

I know there are others who share your sentiments but Tony’s family continues to grow. That was a bold move for him. I’ve seen a lot of really good and tight Austin area bands that eventually desolved once they got families. They still loved the music with a passion but had to make choices to balance their lives. I respect that with a little bittersweetness.
As I remind myself, we had the Beetles, Simon and Garfunkel, Peter, Paul and Mary for maybe a decade. We had TAC for only half that but it was a good time.

I’ve seen Eliza G play several times around Austin. The first time was with her dad, Terry, at the Kerrville Folk Festival. He wrote Bare Necessities for Disney. He was the headliner and she played too. But she became a headliner in her own rite. Good choice and happy you enjoyed learning it.

Normal yes. I had always played a 3 fingered G until TAC. It felt awkward for a long time but eventually it is just natural to me now unless I’m playing fast and not coming out of a D chord. I’ll play the original. I go now with how it feels or the fuller sound I want. The barred, little open A vs 3 fingered A is also one I continue to work on so I can use that chord position up the neck. One has to get out of your comfort zone in practice to add it to your playing repertoire.

No more quarterly zooms. I asked that back in September when I thought I had missed it. There was a September announcement. The last and first week of the quarter include in the daily challenges, a pep talk and guide for [new] members to learn how to use that Guitar Progress Journal and system. Like the Beetles… it was good while it lasted.

That’s interesting. I think Truman said that Compromise is the Oxygen of Democracy. If things are divided by 2 then there are only two options and no room for compromise. I don’t you think you look like Yoda.

That is great that you can get back into it and pick up your old friend. Welcome back. By the way what are two of your John Prine favorites? Is that part of your 90 day goal?

I’m not sure what that is but I assume an anchor can stick to it!

It is under Skills courses. This link [might] get you there. Have fun.

I am not sure which lesson you are on, but usually it is the low E and A strings. I strum 2 strings at a time then move up to the A and D strings and strum them. Your ear will help you get clarity. The overall progression from a numbers standpoint is 1,4,5 or E ( the root) is 1, A is 4 (EFGA) and eventually B is 5 (EFGAB). I’m not trying to be geeky, that’s just how I remember it.

I like your crosspicking on this and appreciate that you owned up to more than a TAC week in this. It sure is good. I was not familiar with this song until this week but now I am reviewing it regularly. Perhaps in 6 months I’ll be half this good. Enjoyed and thanks.
