For what it is worth, I like the Dunlop Ultex Triangle, .60mm. It may be bcause of its large size for my stubby fingers. 1 1/4″ wide and long. Fairly soft but does not slap like thinner picks. Experiment with less expensive versions before you have to dig deeper into your wallet!

Well done, @albert_d . You nailed the song as well as the rest of your technical goals.

@petelanger Adding my 2 cents, I am a Positive Grid Spark user. They have a few options that might suit you, but that is a hardware option. One is an amp in a headphone. FYI, Positive Grid also have “Bias” which is a software version for your PC.

Their amps are affordable and you just turn on the built in pedals. Be mindful of the output power though as some models are designed for home use only.

I have the same issue @jean.laurin58gmail.com . Fretting hand, .75 of the 1st joint.

Yes, there is less reach and some things are deemed impossible. I dont worry too much about it, the 3rd finger can do double duty most of the time. I have thought about switching hands, trying bass, or using a slide. A capo would shorten the distance between frets. You only need three fingers to make a chord. Some songs just get passed.

If you need some encouragement, have a look at a video of Jango (sp?). He does well with just a thumb and index finger.

Thanks, @Loraine . I am also having some numbness which is supposed to subside in a few months. The therapist said guitar is very good for the recovery. All in all, I am confident that I will overcome the issues.

A bad turn of events, Loraine. Good thoughts for your recovery.

OMG, my bad. Not Ultimate Guitar. It is Guitar Pro. It will write in Standard Notation or Tab, As well, you can display/print in both or either one.

    Sorry.

@Marty73 I made a similar mistake with a public post. My account is blocked. I have had no success in resolving the issue. I can’t even subscribe to any channels.

I am pretty sure it is Guitar Pro. You can write in Tab or Standard and display either or both. I use it. There are a few others but GP is one of the standards.

Here is a YT video describing the process. He confirms that there is no automated way to convert notation to tab.

@karlawehling There is no definitive way to determine which finger to use. I would subscribe to the any way that works approach. For example, I have a partial amputation on my pinky. As such sometimes I slide the 3rd finger over. Also, since the same note gets repeated on the fretboard, the same note/chord on another location might suffice. There are also stretching exercises you could/should do. Yet one more option, if your guitar fretboard meets the body at the 14th fret, try one that meets at the 12th fret. That would marginally reduce the distance between frets.

It is not a big enough problem to give up altogether.
