Hello @Loraine ;
I enjoyed reading your One Year TACiversary. Great job of explaining what this has meant to you and what has transpired. Thank you for sharing.
I am more than 2 months past my 2 year TACiversary. I want to post it, but I’m no longer in the habit of participating much here on the forum and I kinda at a loss. So I thought I’d read some other TACiversaries to get some inspiration. You have done that for me.
I have enjoyed watching you learn and grow over the last year. But I am especially amazed at how much you have helped and inspire others. Great job and I am so glad you are a part of this wonderful guitar-centric community.

Very well done, @Daniel_Morin ;
I would give the first one a higher score as you played the hammer-on/pull-off triplets that were part of the “Yeti” lesson and you didn’t play any of that type of triplet in the earlier video.
However, music isn’t a school test of an athletic endeavor, but emotional expression. On that level, I have to agree that both compositions are truly wonderful. You have such a great feel for constructing pleasing melodies and rhythms and making what you play sound like it has a beginning, middle and end, like it’s a trip… well, or a song. Thank you for posting and continuing to help me to learn from your great example.

Wow, I’m sorry to hear about her passing, but I’m very happy to learn about her. My first thought was “Nanci who?”. But after checking out the video, I realize that it would be hard not to be familiar with her work. I love her songs and her voice. She certainly had a gift. Thank you for posting @Brian_P .

I’m sorry for your loss @Loraine . It is a big thing to get through, but you are strong and your commitment to returning to your guitar routine just shows that. I’m sure it will help immensely. There will be a lot of different emotions, and music will help with all of them. You have been a great help to a lot of others here on the forum and that will continue to help you also. ☺😊

Congratulations @Michelle-PSL . I certainly enjoyed watching your progress on this first year. I still haven’t done my 2nd TACiversary. I just don’t spend as much time participating in the forum as I used to. I certainly can’t blame it on the new platform. This new site works great and I really like it. I just found a new “rhythm” during the transition.
Anyway, I’m certainly glad your fears were unfounded. I didn’t realize how strongly the whole covid fiasco affected people. I should have guessed because you really did jump in like there was no tomorrow. And you became a wonderful asset to the community. You made a very positive impact and I thank you for that.
I agree that your 100 day challenge was a great way to make remarkable progress on your guitar journey. I can’t seem to record anything anymore and I am struggling to learn new songs. But your example is so inspiring.
Finally, I want to mention the guitarsenal. I think 10 guitars is a good number. Some of your guitars are very fine ones and no need to “upgrade”. But if you are allowed to upgrade some of them, you could end up with a stellar guitarsenal. I would suggest you giv e yourself more time to see where your personal style is going before you commit to any more specific guitars. What I like has changed as I have made advancement.
I look forward to seeing where your journey leads you during the next year.

Congratulations on winning a guitar, and one one you love at that, @Ron-N . I hope you have many happy hours playing her.

Hello @riverjordan_61 , I assume you read the original post which describes 2 different exercises in detail. These exercises use the guitar. There is another exercise that I started with. You put your hand(s) flat on a table and lift each finger one at a time. Index, middle, ring, then pinky. Do them in different orders. Try doing them in pairs, especially the index-ring and middle-pinky. This is the best exercise I have heard of to start developing finger independence. It helped me a lot at the beginning. I did it every day for quite a while.

“seems like it should be less complicated than that…” Wow, that statement could apply to an awful lot of things in life and the world around us. 😁

Now that a very interesting work around, @jumpinjeff . I don’t know how you managed to figure that one out, but thanks for sharing the tip. I will remember that one. Of course, it won’t be that long and we’ll be back around. 😄

So playing and singing, or just playing, or just singing, our ego is involved on a big level. To play in front of others, you either have to think you are hot shit, or you have to be willing to make a fool of yourself. It makes no difference how good you actually are, it only matters how good you THINK you are.
I hope this helps. By the way, sometimes I STILL get upset while trying to play in front of others because I’m not in the right mood to be willing to make a fool of myself. So thanks for reminding me that is what it takes.

Anyway, yes, you can go to the YouTube channel “Acoustic Life” and see all the videos available. At the bottom left of the video above, you will notice “Watch on (icon)YouTube”. Click on that and it will open the video up in another window and you will be on YouTube. Then, hover over the profile pic above the title “Acoustic Life” below and to the left of the video’s screen, and click on it. That will take you to the home page of Acoustic Life’s “channel”.
I hope this helps.
