@the-old-coach 👏👏👏 That was some really good stuff right there! What chords are you playing? Sounded like a lot of minor 7 chords with some cool bass walk downs. I ask because like @jumpinjeff , I want to play along also – maybe come up with some improv for your “chorus”. Anyways, GREAT WORK my friend 🤩. See you in a few weeks on the other channel 🎸

Hi @campfire , the lesson is 2 fold. First, it goes back to knowing the octaves between strings. For example, let’s start with a C note on the 1st fret B string. The next closest C note is on the A string 3rd fret. From there, the next one is on the G string 5th fret. Then, both E strings 8th fret. From there, we go to the D string 10th fret. And finally, we go back to the B string 13th fret and start the whole thing over again. Notice that we just spelled “CAGED” (substituting the letter C for the B string) while going from string to string through the C octave notes along the fretboard. This is an important concept, because by knowing it, you can move forward or backward along the fretboard (starting on any string, any fret) to find the same note by equating the word “CAGED” to the appropriate strings. Tony is doing the same thing with the open G chord (starting with the open G string) and showing the relationship to other G chords along the fretboard. So looking at the spelling of CAGED, the next letter (moving forward) is E. Meaning that the next G note root is on the E string and the G chord happens to be an E shaped barre chord with the root on the 3rd fret loE string. The next G note root is on the D string 5th fret and the resulting G chord is played out of a D shaped barre chord. The next G note root is on the B string 8th fret and the resulting G chord is played out of a C shaped barre chord (remember that I said to substitute the letter C for the B string). And finally, the next G note root will be on the A string 10th fret and played out of an A shaped barre chord. So, once again we’ve spelled the word “CAGED”, but we started with the letter G.

Just go back and watch the lesson again when you’re ready, perhaps it will make more sense at that time. Good luck on your journey.

I agree with both of you @the-old-coach & @Loraine . I remember when there were so many “ready and willing to help” type of people active in the Forums when I first started TAC. They were all so very encouraging and supportive of newbies as well as each other. I could go on and on about how great the old Forums were (and the old rendition of TAC for that matter) compared to what they are today. I believe the “change over” (late March of 2021) from “Old to Current TAC Rendition” caused a lot of active people to leave, not just the Forums, but TAC altogether. Why? Because they didn’t like the “Current Rendition” – philosophy based content verses the “Old” performance/social based content – just MHO. Then their were the “TAC Post Police” (just a name I’m calling it), but Loraine knows what I’m referring to – a very unfortunate time in the life of this current TAC rendition. I almost quit at that time, but decided to wait, and get closer to my TACiversary before making that decision. I’m glad I decided to stay, but I’m definitely not “thrilled” with this current rendition.

So to your statement, Mark, about fewer people participating in the Forums, my 2 cents on the causes:

    1) The limited scope of Forum topics

    2) The lack of encouragement from Tony & TAC to participate in the Forums

I could list a few other possible “causes”, but they would just boil down to one or the other of the 2 points I made above. Feel free to respond, maybe you have some more thoughts on my “causes list”, I’d be happy to hear them.

Thank you @charlie_d for taking the time to listen (and watch)🙏 For me, the backing track was simple and had a slow and easy (blues) flow, giving enough time for each musical phrase to breath (vibrato & all). 🎸🤘
