Hi @WyoBoy52 , My 2 cents – go with the “Jumpstart” courses next. If you have a thirst for simple – basic music theory and how it relates to the guitar, then try “Foundations of Fretboard Navigation”. And if that leaves you with a deeper thirst, then you have to go for “Fretboard Wizard”🤩

Hi @PapaMinou , I had a similar problem when I went through the Strumming courses. I realized that strumming patterns are actually much harder than they appear at the surface – especially when you have to try to actually execute one 😱. What I decided while going through the course is that 1) I’ll have to work on this as time goes on, and 2) I’ll have to really work on this as time goes on🤔. My point is that there was no way I could master (at that point in time) the strumming patterns presented in the course – but I needed to move on to see other types of strumming patterns and at least get familiar with and be able to recognize them. We can’t master things as quickly as we’d like, but we can become familiar and have an understanding of those things😎 Then at some point in our journey, things will start to click🤩

So nice @Michelle-PSL 👏👏👏 Lovely indeed👍👍 💙So, I was wondering as this project is nearing an end, in your mind, which song gave you the biggest challenge, and which song did you enjoy learning/performing the most🤔??? Enquiring Guitar Geeks want to know🤩

Hi @Greg_F_Lee , My 2 cents – You should definitely finish the courses you started. Great decision there! But I think you should do them 1 at a time so that you can concentrate on each one and get the most benefit from it. I would start by finishing YN6C first. Then I would finish FFN second and then move directly on to FBW. I think you would get the most benefit by moving in that direction before doing the Jumpstart courses (IMHO) Happy TACiversary and may you have many more😎

MemberMay 8, 2021 at 7:46 am in reply to: Never played guitar before and could use some help please.Hi @Jolene , I completely agree with @Loraine , Just focus on the “30 Days to Play” and don’t do the “Daily Challenges” until you feel ready. Make sure that you do something every day with the “30 Days” course👍 Take as long as you need with each lesson – as many times as you need – don’t worry at all about how many days you’re spending with a particular lesson, or the course itself (IMHO).🤩 Once you’ve completed the course, then you can start doing the “Daily Challenges”
Yes, you’re fingertips will get sore, but it will go away – don’t stop practicing – do something with the guitar every day – Have fun🙂

I agree with @Marty69 , I would suggest any of the “Jumpstart” courses next @Bobby-J 👍 take your pick😎

Such a sweet voice @Michelle-PSL 🤩🤩 that was a great rendition and it all seemed to fit you’re style of playing and singing so well!👏👏👏 “Really Truly”👍👍💙

Hi @ZADavid , Just wanted to give you my 2 cents worth. You’ve been TACing for only 1 month (I read your profile) – I think you have to give it more time – you’re not going to get better over night – no matter who’s ‘Program’ you choose. Yes, I get that this site runs really slow. I also get frustrated when suddenly finding that I somehow got logged out and have to log in again. But this site has more courses, more information, the best teacher, and the greatest Community – better than any other site on the web (that I’ve seen) – for sure. Like you, I’d been fooling around with a guitar for over 40 years and really wasn’t going anywhere with it. I joined TAC in December 2020 – just a few months ago. I can now really see the improvement in my playing, but I still have a ways to go to get where I’d like to be. I know that it’ll take patience, more practice, and learning, to get there.
As far as ‘direction’, that’s up to you. I suggest doing as many of the “Skills” courses as possible – I’d start with any of the “Jumpstart” courses and do the “Foundations of Fretboard Navigation”. “Fretboard Wizard” is definitely a gem, but it has a separate $cost. You can find some of that information on the web for free, but no one explains it like Tony, and no one else quizzes you on what you’ve learned – which helps to reinforce your knowledge of the subject. Well worth the extra $ (IMHO). The Daily Challenges are just to get you to do something with the guitar for 5 days of the week. If you feel like you need more than the things that are offered here, then you should attend (virtually) some of the VOM’s (virtual open mikes). There’s information about them in the Forums.👍😎

Hi @Zephyrpn , Like I said above to @ZADavid , the ‘Skills” courses are an excellent place to explore😎. You’ll find instruction and exercises on a wide variety of playing styles and techniques – lots of fun stuff! If you feel you can look at the fretboard and know exactly where you are, or you can listen to a song and figure out the song’s key and chord progression, then you likely don’t need “Fretboard Wizard”. But if you’re not quite sure about things like that, then you should consider that course also. You’ll have to contact TAC HQ about enrollment. With your existing musical background, I would highly recommend that you attend any of the virtual open mikes (VOM’s) – if you search in the Forums, you’ll find info on them as well. The VOM’s are a great way to see and meet (virtually) the TAC Community “as they do their thing”! You can just observe without having to participate. They happen Friday & Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. There is also a VOM that is centered in the UK, called “Scones” – not sure what day they do their thing, but you can find the info in the Forums👍. Have fun and play guitar🤩

Yes @Michelle-PSL , as @MommaTAC says, it can be “tricky”. Just know That that if Hubby wants to spend time with you – it means that he loves you – how ever he’s showing it – he does. Don’t take for granted – life is too short – I found that out the hard way
