Great rendition @Marisa 👏👏🤩 One of my favorite songs that I tried to but couldn’t play (strumming pattern problems), so it was really nice to hear you do it👍🎸 Definitely one for the set-list, loved it❤😘

Congrats @EMG , of your 1000 playing sessions, is their one favorite❤thing/lesson/light bulb moment that stands out more than any other?

Hi @Kerby , great question. Since March of 2021, I’ve been favoriting just about everything so I can access it when I want to. So it’s more about the lessons that I don’t “favorite”, which include a lot of the Monday technique challenges, because I find them tedious and unfulfilling. Not that they lack a justifiable purpose, it’s just that I struggle to find the “fun” in them, besides, they will repeat over time (as will all the Daily Challenges). Another category that I often skip as a “favorite” are the Friday chord transitions, because to me, a lot of them are too basic – this is just my humble opinion (MHO), based on where I feel I am along my journey, your mileage may very (YMMV). I’d rather play entire scales using all open chords, then do them using all barre chords, as opposed to playing just the minor or major chords of a particular key. By doing that, it helps me to reenforce my understanding of each scale with regard to the major and minor chords based on the scale degrees and the positions that they occupy within that major or minor key (as well as the chord shapes themselves). Again, this is based on where I feel my journey has brought me to this point.

IMHO, I believe you should “favorite” every lesson that interests you, every lesson that seems fun to you, any lesson that you want to – just because you want to – you don’t necessarily need a reason – it’s your journey!

Hi @garyrc4aol-com , welcome to TAC. @Kitman is giving some sound advice – slow it down, it does take time to gain control of and be able to “target” string pairs when strumming. One thing that I do when strumming 2 adjacent fretted strings is to use the edges of my fretting fingers to touch the sides of the strings that I don’t want to hear, essentially muting those unwanted strings. By doing that, I can strum within that 3 or 4 string range, but only get sound from the 2 fretted strings. Hope that helps

Hi @Steve-Hoh and @old_salt , welcome to TAC. To understand a little better about why Tony refers to the “3 video speeds”, you should know a little history of the site. When I started TAC (12/2020), all of the courses and Daily lessons had 3 separate “play” videos to practice each lesson at slow, medium & fast speeds. In late March of 2021, TAC revamped their website. One of the reasons for the overhaul was a need to conserve server space – as a result of that undertaking, one of the changes was the removal of the medium & fast speed “play” videos. In place of those videos was the addition of the speed control on the original “slow play” video.

Just thought you guys would like to know👍

Hi @Tdean95 , I replied to your post yesterday, in great detail, using Wednesday’s lesson “Sweeter Spot” as an example, but it has disappeared, which is quite frustrating. I’ll not go into the detail that I went into originally, I’ll just give a short, blunt response.

In FW2, we’re given the 1st octave of the CAGED moveable scale patterns – an individual major scale pattern associated with each chord shape in CAGED. We have also been given the tools from previous chapters of FW2 to figure out and complete the 2nd octaves for each of these major scale patterns. The tools are 1) the musical alphabet (CDEFGABC), and 2) the major scale formula (WWHWWWH). By combining these two tools, we can easily figure out the 2nd octaves without a diagram. Just MHO, YMMV.

Very nicely done @charlie_d 🤩👏👏 I liked the melodies you created, and the 12 string gave it all a nice touch🎸🎉

    Whoa, @Philb is “rockin’ out”😱🤩🎸🎉

I enjoyed listening to your composition Phil. I like your willingness to experiment. At first I thought I was at a Black Sabbath concert with Ozzy hammering away at his Ax, then suddenly I was transported to the forest meadow with Bambi, then BANG, back to the concert. Quite an auditory adventure for sure – keep it going forward Phil👍😃

Thanks @HowardM , what you don’t realize is how badly I wanted to talk about all the things that (I felt) were good about the old version, that we no longer have. But I didn’t want to cast TAC in a bad light to the new members, so I stayed on point about the 3 videos.
