There was a lot of space to fill with that backing track and you did a great job with that @Jonathandavid 👏👏👏 Your melodies were sweet🤩 and I enjoyed how the notes played resolved to the intended chords👍😎👍 Great overall improv🎸

Here it is @JoeT
If you want the backing track to improvise over, just go to my profile and click on “favorites” and search under “improvisations”. I have several pages of them so you’ll have to go through them to find it. Once you’ve found it Joe, open it up and make sure you favorite it also, then you’ll have it in your favorites too.

That was “Really Truly” nice @Philb 👏👏👏 I could picture in my mind everything you were singing about🤔 It certainly makes you think about what the future could hold, if we’re not careful about what we do today😱 I really enjoyed listening Phil, thank you for posting👍👍
Oh, by the way, I didn’t read your comments above the video until after I posted, so this is an addendum. I was trying to improvise over your track and couldn’t figure out what key you were using, then I read your comments. I like the idea of changing keys between verse and chorus, it shows improvement and growth in your writing and playing IMHO🤩

But in the meantime, I think we should open this up to anyone that wants to jam with you Marty🤩🎸 over this backing track!

Hi @muh and @KayMesser , welcome to TAC. I hope you both experience pleasant journeys here. So, a little history about TAC. In March of 2021, TAC underwent a format change. Besides going “all in” on the current philosophy, TAC was experiencing IT issues that had to be addressed. Conserving sever space was one of those issues. As a result, the separate “speed” videos (among other things) were removed and replaced with what you see now. For the most part, the single video lesson with the ability to change speeds has worked, but there are some instances where there is distortion in sound. You may have to pull out a calculator to figure out what speed you’re playing when not at the 1x speed. As for the “Quick Draw” exercises, it’s best to stay at the 1x speed and wait till the count gets to the number you want to start at.
Good luck to you both, and don’t be afraid to ask the Community for help😎

Hi @Greg_F_Lee , I’m currently using Martin – Lifespan 2.0 Treated – Phosphor Bronze – Custom Light (11-52). I prefer the light gauge strings because I can bend notes and do other things much more easily than standard gauge strings. I put this current set on in October of ’21, and with occasional cleaning (every 3 months), they still sound good. I purchased them at my local music shop for $12.99. I mention price because a set of Santa Cruz Parabolic Tension strings are around $18.99? plus shipping (for me, around $5.00 added). I have 2 sets of these strings, but have yet to put them on either of my guitars, because I’m waiting for the Lifespan strings to go sour. Anyways, I hear great things about the Santa Cruz Parabolic Tension strings, that’s why I decided to buy them. They come in 2 varieties (although I believe they added a 3rd), Low Tension & Mid Tension. Santa Cruz recommends that the low tension strings are for short scale guitars (less than 25.4 inches scale length), and the mid tension strings are for full scale guitars. Scale length is measured from the nut to the “bone” (where the strings rest on the bridge). I have the low tension and hope that when I do put them on my guitar, I’ll be able to bend notes easily, if not, I’ll be disappointed in my decision regardless of sound.
Good luck with your decision Greg.

Yes @Philb , just using single notes in the key – in this case I was doing ok in G, then suddenly nothing seemed to sound right (lol). I’d look at the video and try to see what chords were being played and then I saw G and shortly after that nothing sounded right. I was confused to say the least. Then I read what you had posted above the video. I haven’t tried to improvise over your song since that time.

Hi @muh , I believe that it’s easier for TAC to have older members give the explanation about the separate videos than it is to put out a disclaimer on each lesson. Some of these lessons are many, many years old. The way to judge the age of a lesson is to see how many tattoos Tony has (or doesn’t have) on his arms (lol) and compare with what you see on the Acoustic Tuesday Show (AT Show).
