Hi @Barry2021 , Have you tried the “Fretboard Navigation” course in the skills section? To my recollection, that is like a prerequisite ( or a tiny introduction) to FW and is taught by Tony in his no-stress teaching style, exactly the way he teaches FW, but FW contains a multitude of more info (guitar/fretboard related music theory) with light bulb💡 moments for those that can pick up on it. And once you pay $ for it, you own it for ever so you can go through it as often as you like. I’ve gone through it 3x now and I’ve found some more nuggets of practical info each time – things that I’ve over looked other times – making many more light bulb💡💡 moments for me🤩 IMHO, YMMV🤔

Hi @Salty , I like the photos that you posted, 2 Martins and a Taylor. The wood grain on the Taylor looks sweet in my opinion, is this a 224 model ($1699 + PA sales tax)? So the top is solid Koa – and looks awesome, but the back and sides are “layered” Koa (not solid wood). You should do some research on exactly what the “layers” consist of, I think you’ll be surprised and maybe disappointed. The Martin’s on the other hand are solid tone woods, top-back-sides, not layered (at least the models you’ve posted) and made in the US (and your home state). Don’t get me wrong, Taylor’s are very nice guitars, but I believe you’ll get more bang for your bucks with a solid wood Martin. Best of luck with your decision!

Hello @Kafka , welcome to TAC. I believe you made some wise choices – signing up with TAC and buying that D-28 Modern Deluxe👏👏🤩👏👏

I have heard Tony say that you can wear any TAC t-shirt or have any TAC merchandise in the photo with you and your guitars to get recognized on the AT Show. So you don’t have to buy/wear that Guit******* shirt!

Hi @kdmathis , welcome to TAC. I wish you a fun guitar journey here👍 I agree with everyone’s above suggestions. The path they suggest is a great one, but just so know, you are in control of the path you want to take here. You can take those courses in an order that you want, and you can take other courses in between the suggested ones – it’s up to you – just have fun exploring the possibilities here🤩

Congrats @GuitarGeni 👏👏👏 I love FW because the way Tony teaches and the way he takes the mystery out of a lot of the subject matter. And every time I go through the course again (3 times now), I find new tidbits of useful info that I didn’t see clearly at a previous time, but there they are – plain as day💡💡💡🤩💡💡

Have you made your declaration yet?

Agree @Beatrice , I picked up a used Art&Lutherie (by Godin) for my 2nd guitar and am really pleased with my find. A 2002 CW spruce Burgundy (Sitka spruce top, wild cherry back and sides), which is a cut-away, and I love that I can easily play up to the 19th fret without having to adjust my fretting hand. The sound is awesome From the 7th thru 17th frets – and it has electronics with an on board tuner – wow – all for $350 US with a heavy duty travel case – great deal for me – and great guitar🤩

Hi @GuitarGeni , in March of 2021 (before you joined TAC) the site under went a format change – you may have heard others talk about “the old Forums” etc. Well back before the format change when I finished FW, in order to “graduate” you could 1) post your performance of the song that you wrote as your “final FW project”, and/or 2) simply post a video declaring yourself a Fretboard Wizard. Some people did both in the same video. Any ways, you didn’t get the FW badge until you posted a video in the Forums. So that’s what I’m referring to when I say “declaration”. With the new format, there are no more “badges”, but I would have thought there would be some kind of requirement to post in the Forums (which you have done) a declaration that you are a “Fretboard Wizard” (which you have not done – yet). So don’t be afraid to say (post) it here and now!👍🤩👍

Thank you @campfire for your kind words. I haven’t thought of myself as a mentor, but I’ll roll with it proudly!

That’s awesome @billyh393 👏👏 Just log-in everyday when you pick up your guitar and it won’t be long before you’re posting about streaks of your own. Oh, and by the way, welcome to TAC, may you journey well!

Hi @CaptainFuture , if you go to the “Old TAC Song Vault” (link below)

    https://app.searchie.io/hub/254V7grV3m/

and click on Flatpicking, You’ll see Billy In The Low Ground as the 1st choice. If you click on the gold arrow and then click on Introduction, you’ll be able to watch Tony play the entire piece.

    Hope this helps👍
