Really appreciate the suggestion @KevinZ . I have done that before, but introducing the left hand just slows me way down and the right hand forgets how to function,

Really appreciate the feedback and recommendations @Kitman . The metronome and I have a love hate relationship, but you’re right, it does help. I’ll check out the apps you mentioned.

Hi Eric, and welcome to the TAC community! Guitar is not an easy instrument to play. It takes time and dedication and lots of practice. Keep practicing your chord transitions, and they will get better. Have you taken the 30:days to play course? Suggestion for better chord transitions — use a metronome, and start at a very slow speed and start by playing one chord, and switch to the 2nd chord on the 4 beat. Once you have it down slowly, begin increasing your speed by say 3-5;beats per minute. Then do the same at that speed by starting with the first chord and then switching to the 2nd chord on the 4 beat. Again, once you’re able to smoothly transition, increase the metronome by another 3-5 bpm and start again. You’ll build the muscle memory you need for the chords and transition to the 2nd chord. Hang I there and just keep doing what you’re doing.

I know the challenges you’re dealing with your mother, and I wish I had your skills at working through it with your songs. You’re helping me heal with songs like this. Thank you! This was quite beautiful, and I think it’s your best to date.

Welcome to the TAC community and congratulations on completing the 30 days to play! Yes, this was a challenging week of daily’s, but you did it, and just putting the effort in and trying is a huge win! Some weeks will be more challenging than others, but when the lessons cycle back around in 8-9 months, you’ll really be able to gauge your progress. Keep on plunking away!

Fantastic wins @1Dean . Great that you’re able to see and acknowledge progress, and it sounds like you’re having some fun with it.

2 weeks without a guitar may seem like forever, but it’s like getting an all new guitar back. Try switching out the strings for a different gauge. One solution to buying a 2nd guitar is to look at resale shops. I bought 2 inexpensive guitars that way through Goodwill. You’d have a guitar to fall back on when these things arise. I’d give you one of them if you were nearby. That’s another option is to borrow one from someone or even rent one while your guitar’s in the shop.
