  • 4th TACIVERSARY

Posted by Marty73 on December 18, 2021 at 9:17 am

    Today is my 4th TACIVERSARY

I joined TAC on Dec. 18th 2017 but my profile date is shown as of Jan. 1st, 2018.

“So I am celebrating my TACIVERSARY on Dec. 18th, 2021”

    1. Where were you with guitar when you joined?

In the beginning, I played guitar off and on for many year. I just learned basic chords. I was self taught.

I played a 12 string Ovation for 5 years with a church folk group on Sundays & at special public events. “Life got in the way” and I put the guitar down for over 30 years.

I got the itch to play again after so many years and had to pick up the guitar because it was driving me nuts!! After picking it up again, I had to go through the pain of rebuilding the calluses on my fingers. What a pain that was! I also found out that I was much older and the fingers were not as nimble as they use to be. (arthritis)

I got stuck in a rut with my playing and was becoming frustrated till TAC came into my life. All changed after that!

I do know how to read standard music and how to transpose a song and how to use a capo.

I am also now a FRETBOARD WIZARD Grad and was a TAC Mentor under the old Forum

I have done FRETBOARD WIZARD 4 times. I use this course as a refresher when Tony runs it. The “Newbie’s” motivate me in the live sessions and I find them educational.

    2. What are three things you can do now that you couldn’t do before TAC?

    1) I can now write my own songs and transpose them, if I have to, thanks to FretBoard Wizard

    2) I can now play songs from memory and don’t have to rely on a cheat sheets.

I learned how to finger pick for the first time on TAC Something I always wanted to learn to do!!! And my speed is getting faster and faster! lol

I have learned lot of songs this past year and have memorized many of them I have over 150 songs in my guitar list!!! I have over 60 songs posted on Youtube.

I have also moved up the neck and am playing more bar chords!

    3) I have played live on VOM and am getting over the stage fright

    3. Complete this statement: It would be amazing if this time next year I can ________.

Do split screen videos of me playing all parts of a song, become more comfortable at playing solo’s. (This still hasn’t happen)

Find local player to jam with.

I believe in Tony’s teaching method so much that I became a Life Member! Thanks Tony and TAC staff!

Happy 4th TACiversary @Marty69 ! I love reading these, because it helps me get to know you better. I’ve enjoyed seeing your videos and seeing you play at the VOM’s, and I’ve seen your progression and you’ve become quite the finger picker.

Thank you for the kind words @Loraine As I get older, the fingers sometimes give me pain but… I will play on till I can’t anymore. Merry Christmas! 😊🧙‍♂️😎

This is awesome @Marty69 . I am so happy for you. I am so happy for me. I am so happy for all of us who found TAC.

Our stories are so similar. Except you’ve probably always been farther along than I am and you probably will be. But what’s important is that we continue to progress. It’s just wonderful.

I, too, am a lifetime member. This is my last “paid” year; next year will be my first “free” year. This was your first “free” year. I would not have been able to sign up for another year this past summer if I hadn’t bought the lifetime. It’s so worth it. I was very sure that I wasn’t going to master everything Tony teaches in 2 years, and 3 years is the breakeven, so I dug deep and came up with the coin. But that’s just the simple math. I was actually pretty sure I would never master everything Tony teaches, so I will be able to learn as long as I am able to do the lessons.

As far a jamming, we live in the same state. Yeah, it’s a long drive and wouldn’t happen very often, but I’m sure it could happen once or twice. I have driven the hour to Norman Lake and jammed with Jack Salistad ( @Guitargeezer-Jack ). It would be very cool if the 3 of us could get together.

Let me know if you would be interested in that.

Oh, one more thing; I loved the video. Very nice job on that song, Marty. Very impressive.

    MG 😀

@Marty69 accomplishments and progression over the past four years are impressive. I’ve watched many of his forum videos since my entry into TAC nine months ago. Having MG come play with me added to my motivation. Mike’s suggestion is a good one to sometime get together with our fellow TAC guitarist from North Carolina.

Happy 4th TACiversary @Marty69 It has been so cool seeing how you have developed over the years. As DeeDee says Strums and Smiles Brother, Fast easy progress always. I like the goals for next year at this time too. Have we talked about Sebastien and Backing tracks?
