Hit a bit of a speed bump in my guitar journey. Broke my right collar bone in skiing accident. So, this puts quite a dent in mt guitar routine as I will be out of action for several weeks. Still logging on each day to check out the daily exercise, etc, and will do fret board wizard again minus active engagement. Also watching ts of YouTube videos and doing finger stretching exercises each day to at least keep some things in motion.

Looking for any other ideas or suggestions on keeping things going, as i am sure others on TAC have been in the same or similar situations. Thanks

Sorry to hear about your accident @ChuckS 😱 One thing that I can think of (that you haven’t already mentioned) is to tap your fretting finger tips on something hard to maintain your calluses.

So sorry to hear! Just follow the lessons is pretty much one can do. Don’t know how far along you are with your playing. Try moving your fingers to chord shapes if possible. Hang in there! Oh, and “Broken Arrow” in the military mean a lost weapon. 😊🧙‍♂️😎

@Marty69, thanks. Was thinking about Old Neil Young/Buffalo Springfield song vice military, (there is however, some overlap between the 2). It just popped to my head for the thread title for some reason.

So sorry to hear this news. I broke my collar bone years ago and I know it’s tough. I don’t know if you will be able to just lay your guitar on your lap and play melodies or what? Good luck and sorry for the fall.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your skiing accident. I’ve had some bad tumbles in my skiing days, but I only bruised my pride and body. I had tendonitis and tennis elbow in 2021-2022, and I wasn’t able to play the guitar, because doing so could have caused permanent damage. I spent time doing the same things you’re doing, and I spent a lot of time on the forums, and I went to a lot of virtual open mics (VOMs). I practiced air fingering on my fret hand and strumming and finger picking on the guitar with my right hand (the uninsured arm). It may seem like a long time, but your body needs to heal properly.

@Lorraine, Thanks. Didn’t think about VOMs – never had the guts to log on to one – maybe will give that a shot as there will be no pressure to play and I can just observe(:
