    Hey @Marty73 , great rendition! I tried doing some single note riffs in C (Am), but couldn’t come up with anything that sounded half decent. Happy to catch your vids on this new (to you) platform. Hope all is well with you and that you weren’t affected by the hurricane. Take care my friend.

      Hey @Bill_Brown try capo on first fret. The song is in the key of G# We were lucky from the storm. I only lost 4 big trees I have to cut up for firewood. We got over 10 1/2 inches of rain.

      @langerking use mine as a backing track and add your mandolin then post. Would like to hear it!

        The song makes me want to be able to play mandolin, doesn’t mean that I am anywhere near being able to do it yet. But your suggestion would be cool!

        Okay @Marty73 , I’m not saying when but I’m taking you up on this. I checked out some videos on how to play the mandolin parts and it looks doable.

        IT’S ON!

        Update: I finally own a Mandolin. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money so I ordered one from Amazon. Delivery was to be within about 1 month. Well it never did ship so ended up cancelling that order. I placed another order which then arrived the day I left on a 10 day trip to Vienna, Austria. So I just recently got back, opened the box and got her tuned up.

        I’m looking up the riffs and chords now, and it’s not all that easy. I would rather not spend too much time on it so as to mess up my guitar routine. Just letting you know it’s in the works but it will be next year some time before I post anything at all.

        I’ve been fooling with it here and there. I’m trying not to let it interfere with learning guitar which is top priority to me. But the Mandolin does sound so cool, the licks in “Losing My Religion” especially are so catchy. Most of what’s in the song isn’t extremely challenging except for the very first chord:

        E====1=====

        A====0=====

        D====3=====

        G====5=====

        even on a tiny mandolin going all the way to the 5th fret with the ring finger while holding down the first with your index finger is just a huge stretch. Just fretting it is hard but I have to transition to it in a flash because there’s a lead in lick on the A string:

        E=============1==============

        A==5=7=5=0====0==============

        D=============3==============

        G=============5==============

        This is the hump I’m trying to get over. So I’m either going to have to wait till I can stretch my fingers like that and fret the chord quick enough, or compromise on this bit in some why. I’ve been trying to just drop the E string from the chord, that might work ok as long as the sound is not too far off. Like I said the remaining bits aren’t nearly as high difficulty for a beginner mandolin player and might be able to get them down before too long.

        ohhhh – I am “Mandolin curious” myself lately ! I am holding off until I get an amp for my tele that was most recent guitar purchase – but I think a Mandolin is next !

    Very nicely played Marty. Your playing is so smooth, and I like your accents.

        Very long long recovery, but maybe another 4-6 weeks they’re saying.
