  • Original – “To Sleep”

Posted by TMutter on April 30, 2022 at 12:35 pm

Had a couple of sleepless nights so rather than fighting it – I just leaned into it and wrote a song .

Very different than my usual stuff. Took it for a test drive at Zoom Open Mic and then added some additional elements on Logic. Still has layers to add. I am using it as an excuse to buy a Strat !

That is an awesome original song TMutter! 🎵 👏

Just wish I could have heard it more clearly. My left ear is clogged up, and I can only hear about 50% or less. Your playing sounded great though.

Sleep. Such an under appreciated blessing. (And the ability to communicate through song.) Nice job @TMutter

Very nice original @TMutter 👏🤩👏 The music and lyrics created a mood (to me) that was, in a way, mesmerizing. Going from soft and tranquil to loud and restless, letting the listener feel the turmoil going on within😱 Nice work Terry👍🎼👍😎

Thanks @Bill_Brown – this was a very different style for me and I really the arch of the song – its very simple chord wise but fun to play and sing.

I hate that I can’t give you a like. What a cool song. You really have a gift for song writing. And I love that you have found a different sound. This is amazing and so relatable. I just can’t say enough about how much I like your this song and all your songs. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Mike ! I have been trying out some Youtube vocal training sites to try and relax while singing and expand my range. This song probably has the widest octave range of anything I have done to date. I have not yet calculated the range but I am curious to do so.

I use my guitar to figure out what notes I am singing. It was a very slow and tedious process at the beginning, but now, I pretty much know where to start. I tend to sing somewhere in the range of a D, open 4th string, to and A, 2nd fret, 3rd string. Of course, my range is much larger than that, but if I don’t purposely come up with a more interesting melody, that’s where I tend to sing. Now that I live in North Carolina where the allergies are off the charts, I can only count on singing from B3, 2nd fret, 5th string, to E4, open 1st string, which is an octave plus a perfect 4th. Sometimes I can go down to the A and up to the F#. Other times, the B and E are pushing it.

Anyway, congrats on working on improving all aspects of your craft. You definitely qualify to be called a singer/songwriter. Keep cranking out those amazing songs and lyrics.
